Is 507023 still at Birkenhead Central after the failure? Anyone know? Can't see anything on RTT for it leaving.

Scrap move isn't happening this week, but I've not heard anything about any being out in service.
08.03 ex Southport would be best bet at moment but as I say I've not seen anything posted anywhere

8:03 is formed of 003 and 029 as quite often happens. Should in theory be out in the evening peak providing no 777s come to cover.

Hi, does anyone know if the 08:03 and 16:03 ex SOP are 507s today? Thanks.
The 08.03 service was 507003 + 029, but the PM runs are less certain today with a spare 777 formation currently in Southport's platform 3 which could be used in the 507s' stead. Hopefully not and they'll go out as has become usual.

They did indeed on their regular diagram
. One wonders how many more days they have doing this. I imagine at some stage as well they will need to go to the depot even if it’s for routine maintenance. (Happy to be corrected if I’m wrong)MR-507508

A pair of 507’s are heading 5T83 presumably to Southport. I don’t know if the 507’s were out today but it seems they have either been taken off or they are required

Not sure if any will be out, but your best chance if you want to ride one would be the 1603 from Southport

When I checked traksy after the above post, there was a 5T83 in platform 3 at Southport
507003 and 029 have just shunted into platform 2 of Southport to work the 16.03 departure as usual.
5T83 did run earlier; it just showed as cancelled on RTT. They visited Kirkdale this morning for a wash and a routine check.

Glad I got a ride on 003 and 029 this evening. Maybe my last 507 ride. Will be sad to see them go. I remember seeing them when they were brand new on a family holiday to Southport when I was a kid, and have had a soft spot for them ever since.

When do the 507s actually come off lease? I have heard multiple people say during December 2024 but i have not heard an exact date? Is there a chance the lease could be extended due to all of the issues with the 777s recently?

End of December but I believe unless there has been a change that the last unit 003 will be withdrawn from service around the 18th December.
I hope they sort out the 777 issues as it is truly an embarrassment at this point how unreliable they have been!

That will be 018 and 007 off then, I couldn’t see why they need to go other than lease and life expiry. 018 was meant to be one of the first 507’s gone but never got withdrawn, It was also supposed to be gone Early - Mid 2023 but never got withdrawn. And then this year was meant to go in about may still never happened. And then its countless withdrawals which have happened recently, Its move also never ran. 018 has always been my favourite 507. I agree totally about 003 going ahead of 018 but I believe the reason is simple - 003 was the last one overhauled so therefore it's the last to go! 018 has absolutely fantastic motors very strong and reliable. Glad I got a ride on it during its last Friday in service!
507018 was never planned to go that early at all. It was towards the last of all 507s overhauled so was always amongst the last expected to go. A superb unit too so I'm glad it was amongst the final casualties.
Also, with a 777 substituting on the 'usual' diagram this Thursday night, it could possibly be the end of 507 operations. Let's hope not and there are still a few more days left.

Interestingly the diagram they normally appear on has failed this morning. If it was a 777 could potentially be good news as the 507s will be spare ready to takeover.
If it was the 507s that’s not such good news.
Edit: I can confirm as of 7:35, the 507s are still in Southport sidings powered down.

Anyone actually have any idea when the last 507 service will run because at this point its hard to tell. I presume 507003 will be the last one to do a service.
Also more on about 507018, I dont understand why that unit got withdrawn first and not 507023. It was clearly the worst one out of them all, apart from 507007 at the time.

Looks like 777014 may have formed an 8 car with the unit on the 1018 departure, was only watching on traksy though so not sure

Seems strange. Wonder if it’s a crewing issue meaning there is no 507 guards or drivers available. Or if they maybe have a fault
