Did anyone actually get a definitive answer as to All Line Rovers validity on HS1
And to complicate matter it would be a PRIV ALR
Any thoughts ?

Not definitive but:-

1. It is not in the exclusions. (eg Heathrow Express)

2. It is clearly marked as been valid on the map on the National Rail Enquiries site.

(I shall be using mine 7 days from today 19.42 STP > 20.20 AFK, armed with printed out conditions)

I would suggest you send a request to Southeastern Trains
Their previous response advised a supplement was payable, but I now understand this has been withdrawn

So from that I take it they are valid then
Or will it just be a case of seeing the guard before the train leaves and asking him what he thinks !!

The National Rail website is deemed to be the authority on all ticketing matters. It doesn't mention anything about SE on HS1 so there must be no problem. If you were to encounter issues then ask for a UPFN and someone on here will be able to assist if necessary. Given that you are a PRIV holder I really can't see any issues though.

Yeh that's probably the best way, get it out of way so you can have a trouble free journey. Although I don't think they're as likely to give a PRIV traveller as much hassle.

My thoughts are as others have said its valid end of.

I made enquiries previously but had conflicting responses
The staff at St Pancras advised it was not valid and a single ticket was required
However SET advised a supplement was required
When I tried to use my ALR again I was advised it would not be valid and a single ticket was required, but when I presented the email on my laptop and they made some phonecalls they confirmed a supplement was payable instead (and it took them some time to find it)

As I understand it this supplement has since been withdrawn, but not yet had it confirmed that a ALR is valid

I used a First class ALR with no problem recently. However, I think First class tickets are accepted by SET on HS1 anyway.

Thanks for that. How much was the supplement by the way ?

Correct answer is nothing to pay (no extra charges, supplements etc). Valid at anytime for normal pax.

PRIV discounts are subject to the restrictions set out in ATOCs RST Restriction list which basically means a PRIV ALR is not valid around the peak hour on HS1. If you want to use it at that time then you have to buy a (Full public rate ticket as appropriate).

Refer to http://www.atoc.org/clientfiles/Fil...11 STAFF TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS - APPROVEDv2.pdf

Despite it being a PRIV rate ticket, the barrier staff were having none of it when I pointed out the restrictions had changed.

Contacting the SET Pricing Manager directly would be the best way for getting confirmation. His name/email address isn't hard to find.

Travelled today from St Pancras to Ashford and encountered no problems at either the barrier on on board

Good to hear :)

The St Pancras barrier staff and the guards seem to be very knowledgeable on HS1 ticketing - I've only really had a problem with barrier staff at Ashford on that line :)
