It would seem so, she can be heard at Cottingham, Longbeck and Redcar Central now as well. Indeed she gave me a jump at when she started at Cottingham as the auto announcements there had been broken for about a year, so was quite a surprise to have a train announced!

as long as you have an interest mate, welcome. I suppose in future an audition could be a 30 second period in which you realed off as many common and not so common ditra phrases as possible?

Glasgow Central has new automated announcements.
It made me smile, since the woman's voice is the same one that used to be on SPT trains before First took over Scotrail and changed all the announcements.
I'm always impressed by the automated announcements on the platforms around Glasgow. It flows really well, and they seem to have recorded everything in a few different tones of voice. If a train's at 15:15, she says both fifteens differently. It's a nice touch.

Actually the pre recorded announcements were done by one of the Network Rail customer service assistants. She was the one i saw when i went into the station reception there back in march.
Just like Edinburgh Waverley it uses the ATOS system.

It definitely sounds a lot like her. The old train voice has a very distinctive way of pronouncing and emphasising words. The 'and' sounds identical.

I last used the Metro a few months ago ago and quite like the system then. I haven't a clue which one it was!
Yep, it was a woman. Some trains still do not have the boards activated yes, they're about a year overdue. I'm guessing you may have been one one without them activated (i.e.the driver makes the announcements.)

As an aside, I have 4 recordings of the old "Stand Clear of the Doors, Please" if anyone wants them.
If you can tell me what for and whether or not you mean the TW Metro I'll see what I can do.

In the past week, Lincoln Central has been fitted with new information screens. When I arrived this morning I discovered that Anne is now doing the announcements.
Why is this system so popular? The voice is just terrible...

Disappointing, I'd heard rumours that EMT were about to install automated announcements at more of their stations and I had hoped they would follow SWT's example and use Ditra.

Well, I expected the Anne trend to continue. Although, I am not impressed with Northern's new(ish) Ditra system. Celia is good, but it's not reliable at all...

I'm not if that system is really "new" at all, I think it's just a slightly upgraded version of what was around before i.e. mostly broken Phil! I think the actual hardware dates back to the 90s.

Would bigger stations like Derby and Leicester have a better version of Anne installed or the same, the man who does the annoucements at Leicester sounds pretty depressed recently, think the auto announcements has got something to do with it.
