Just noticed 5T83 at Hightown on traksy, anyone know what it could be? Potentially 018 heading to be withdrawn?
If 5T83 was a 507, I would expect a further path in, from Kirkdale C.S., for a move over to the Wirral later today.

There was a few ECS moves of 777s from Kirkdale depot to Southport Friday evening, so perhaps it's some unit swaps of 777s taking place, with them all requiring testing following the issues earlier this week.

A nice surprise for me yesterday ,when I was able to ride 507003 from Bebington to Chester after the Port Sunlight Beer Festival.

Fast and smooth as ever. Pity it was on a diagram that stops at Capenhurst, so a longer high speed run wasn't had, but good to get what may well be a final ride on one of these.

And Crewe to Stockport with 67008 too.

Excellent day out - good beer, good company and trains full of character.

Yeah, just at Rock Ferry towards Chester on 2C42

Chester line is very busy today, not sure if there's an event on somewhere or something

507003 appears to have been swapped out off the Chester line for a 777.

Yep it was struggling to keep time yesterday, apparently limited to 2/3 power!
The cynical part of me says they deliberately left it out knowing it would get delayed on the Chesters instead of using a unit in better condition to justify the scrapping moves when limited 777 availability!

I very must doubt they would do that. It’s not in anyone’s interests and the reality is that even if 003 performed to 100 percent of its capabilities, the moves would still be going ahead

003 is the slowest one left and has been for a while, 001 isn't much better.

The 777 (777005) which replaced 507003 didn't exactly run to time either, looking at 2C64 and 2C70.

Are the delays due to the leaf-fall season as well?

507003 remains at New Brighton's no. 2 siding this evening following its late substitution last night. One thing I'll say for 003 is despite its lack of pace, it's definitely a reliable old thing.

Also, it seems we've imagined all these 507s in service over the last fortnight as, according to Wikipedia, they were withdrawn on 3rd November - and the Liverpool Echo says so, so there! Several attempts by multiple users to correct the mistake have been reverted. Any Merseysider would tell you without hesitation that the local rag is the last place they'd look for reliable information.

Yes I noticed that also - the people moderating Wikipedia are utterly clueless. I've given up long ago trying to correct mistakes on there.
I have however written a complaint to the Echo with regards to the poor journalism on there article which Wikipedia seems to be linking back to. If anyone else wishes to also write in a complaint then I think it can only help to have more people writing in - the complaints email regarding inaccuracies is on the Echo's site.

Wikipedia also missed out on some of the named 507s, such as 023 & 021

Good idea and I've followed suit.

The irony is that even if it were true and the Sefton Sparkler was the last 507-operated train, the 3rd November date would be wrong anyway. No 507s ran in revenue-earning service that day.

Wikipedia seems to value 'news' sites above anything else, i had a friend who interviewed someone & edited their page accordingly, and was banned because a tabloid from 10 years ago said something contrary

507018 is not quite done yet. It and 029 remain together and are on the 06.03 and 08.03 Southport - Liverpool diagram this morning.

018 just won’t give up will it, Do you know if it will run the evening services?
Sorry, I don't know at this stage. No spares at Southport currently but the service in front of 018 and 029 is an eight-car 777 which theoretically could be split down. Mind you, the 777 pair left Southport 12 minutes down due to - wait for it - a technical fault.

The 2 777s underwent a full reset at Southport ahead of the 7:48 departure. As that is my train to work, they do seem to be working as normal now, so could potentially be split later as you mentioned. Fingers crossed not though.

507003 is at Southport now ECS from New Brighton so presumably 507018 carried passengers for the last time this morning.

Edit: Indeed the case. 018 is done; it is about to leave Southport ECS for the last time. I'm glad to have made the effort to ride it this morning. A superb unit which will be sorely missed.

Not sure why they would want 003 on it, Its the worst one left. It will just make the journey with 029 sluggish
