Merseyrail legacy fleet updates (Class 507/508)

507018 and 029 are back out on the same Southport line diagram as yesterday starting with the 06.03 to Liverpool. Early signs this could remain a regular thing for the time being as Merseyrail address the ongoing severe overcrowding on this line.

Also, it appears 507003 will run the New Brighton line today, starting with the 07.38 circuit.

Any idea what time 507003 will be out till by any chance? Just finished work and looking at heading over for a cheeky after-work spin! Thanks in advance!

It should be on the XX.38 departures to 18.38, then XX.53 departures to 22.53 if it stays on the diagram but there's always the chance it will be substituted if a 777 is sourced. Hopefully not; good luck catching it.

Ah, there have been some system errors this morning I think as 029 is not on that service. It is paired with 018 on the same diagram as yesterday, meaning it retires to the sidings after the 09.02 Liv Cen - Southport and doesn't re-emerge until the 16.03 service.

Nuts……fair enough, just hope 003 sticks on the New Brightons for a couple of more hours then in that case!!!!

507018 and 029 have been subbed off following the 19.02 from Liverpool Central and have moved into the sidings for the weekend.

I would say unlikely. The Southport line is surely no with eight-cars to split down. If 003 sees out its New Brighton diagram it possibly will be out on Saturday morning, however briefly.

Update: 507003 is indeed back out, forming the 05.53 New Brighton rounder this morning. The diagram involves XX.53 departures from NB to 18.53. If anyone wants it, I'd get it soon as there should be spare 777s to sub it later.

Tracking it on RTT, I had 003 as finishing on 2N59 on platform 2 last night, being first into the platform (with 5N57 following). Therefore did 003 not work 5C08 this morning to Chester (which according to RTT was the 2nd departure from platform 2)?

Yes 003 is out, waiting for it at Hamilton Square and boards are saying 3 cars

003 is showing as running 10 late due to 2N06 (i think) being cancelled. I would imagine this is another 777 fault

I received a message saying the 08.33 Southport - Liverpool had 507029 allocated so hopefully that one.

Not sure, sorry. I made a dash for the bus home after they subbed it. It definitely went into one of the sidings as a driver boarded it but may have been Southport sidings rather than the Birkdale ones.

The 09.32 Southport service is 777029 unfortunately so this makes me think there has been a system error again. Hopefully the six-car working isn't too far away.

Yes. 507029 and 507018 are in the sidings alongside the running lines. Just passed them on my way out of Southport on the 0948 ex SOP (777028).

507003 currently still operating on the New Brighton line, working 2N15 at present.

They have been there for a few years, it’s some sort of passenger counting device. Selected 507s and 508s were fitted with them as part of planning for the 777s.

Theres no stock movements on realtimetrains and there was nothing in New Brighton sidings or at Birkenhead North Depot to replace it so I think it must still be out

Just had a ride myself - the following trip was already on the boards at Birkenhead North as a 3 car service so there doesn’t seem to be any rush to take it off.

I believe the 18:53 will be the last one it does, diagram ends after that if I remember correctly
