Audible Warning systems (Cow Bells) at level crossings

I am Trying to find the correct height for the installation of Cow bells as an audible warning system on level crossings, I can't find anything in the standards or online the electrical clearance from the OLE needs to be 600mm at all times unless isolated so it must be greater than this?

Any help is appreciated, cheers

From your username I assume you are Network Rail Staff. I would suggest you talk to your local EPME or failing that someone in NRDD.

As these load gauges are classed as traffic signs, all the information you need is in section 20.2 of Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 4.

The audible sounders (Yodalarms) are normally fitted just below the mounting for the wig-wag light units on the same post.

It is indeed, and that Metrolink's 750v DC overheads (over the far side rail) - just north of Altrincham.

There's still a few places with cow bells, and seem to be placed at random distances & heights, but usually with common sense applied in relation to OHL wire height & voltage.

I've seen them in farmer's field entrances.
