The only EC trains to have been cancelled from KGX today are 1Y08 NCL - KGX, 1N27 KGX - NCL, 1D25 KGX - LDS and 1A40 LDS - KGX. The rest are either delayed, have run as normal, or are scheduled to run as normal. NRE has no record of all trains cancelled from KGX until further notice either.

I'm just reporting what the announcer said a kings cross. Although trains were still listed to Leeds we were advised to use EMT via Sheffield. So I assume the departure boards haven't caught up.

It may be that the systems haven't caught up yet - there is still nothing on the NRE site, and only 2 cancellations due to a lineside fire. The rest are showing as delayed, or expected to run as normal.

On the NRE Staff section everything is showing for me as "Delayed" or anything from around "15-45" late.

Better to take the 1755, change at Derby/Chesterfield/Sheffield for the XC to Leeds, arriving 2105. So, 3 hrs 10 minutes.

The 1815 will have loads of free seats after Leicester, but it is slow.

It's a 1st class ticket, I think you answered your own question!

The rules state:

Where applicable, customers
must travel in the Class and
reserved seat(s) shown on the
ticket(s).

OK, so the reserved seat is not applicable, but technically if 1st Class is available you "must" use it (Can't see that being enforced though!)

That's what I'm doing, thought it was a bit cheeky to revcomend the 1815 but I suppose they have to do crowd control somehow

on 1755 off York 5 down ish on departure announcement made to effect line open fire out!
Passed fire engines just south of avoiding line junction plus 91 and mk4 rake stopped on slows

also 91 and mk4 set stopped on platform line at retford with thunderbird 67003 pulling away from south end

seems ok now other than affected trains

I've been using KGX since 2001. At 1730 this evening is the busiest I've ever seen it.

Several services cancelled - but it's not the number of them that is the problem - it's the time of day it happened. The 1744 FCC and 1740 FCC PBO services were properly busy.

The queue of trains - east coast and FCC - waiting to get into KGX stretched out past Finsbury Park to Hornsea.

Its not my day for trains The 17.55 St Pancras to Sheffield is now being diverted between Derby and Chesterfield adding 40 minutes to the journey. We reversed out of Derby through Long Eaton and I don't have a clue where we are now.

Signalling Problems between Derby and Chesterfield are now delaying trains up to 60 minutes.

Didn't seem too bad compared to recent EC problems. Stopped on bridge at PBO then pretty slow, stop start to Donny. Bridge didn't seem too bad but better safe than sorry. Congestion and loss of paths had more of an impact than the go slow past the bridge. York was blocked up sat waiting 15 minutes for a platform. Got home an hour later but wasn't the end of the world punters on the train were predicting.
