Can anyone tell me if objects are discarded from the trackside while railway vehicles pass? Maintenance could have been ongoing as vehicles passed on the rail track. Something has hit the rear panel of my motorhome. It's not ballast.

I would say roughly 4-5 metres away from the track, I park it close to the fence.Where was your motorhome? How far away was the railway line?
Not sure how to copy from goggle maps. It very close to the lucker road crossing point in NorthumberlandCan you provide a link on Google Maps?
What sort of device are you using? e.g. computer/phone? What operating system e.g. Windows/Apple/ChromeOS/Android?Not sure how to copy from goggle maps.
that looks like a storage site so could be!Would it be this location where it appears several motorhomes/caravans are parked up?

If you still have this object, it may be worth sharing a picture of it?The damage was caused by an object that had two screw attached as the rear panel surface was dented and two scratches of 20 mm in a lateral position by the sharp end of the screws. The height of the damage was above the metal fence. I would say that something hit the rear panel at a 45 deg angle, and was moving to cause the dent.
This!!Claim from your insurance, that is what you (presumably) pay them for.
That isn't going to help anyone, it looks far too generic, impossible to know how that happened. Here is the image of the damage to my motorhome's rear panel.
I think I may have found what caused the damage. There is evidence that the trackside communication channel was entered by lifting the top concrete access point adjacent to the rear of my motorhome on the trackside. There is also evidence that the lid has not been refitted.
It could be that an engineer used a pole to drag or pull through the wire from further down the trackside. The pole may then have been lent on the wire fence or out of control. Then, this pole device hit the rear panel of my motorhome.
Many thanks
With respect, that’s wild speculation. Here is the image of the damage to my motorhome's rear panel.

An awful lot of this has been that. With respect, that’s wild speculation.
I will stress again - It is your insurers (or the insurers of the place you store your vehicle if that is part of the agreement) job to establish liability and seek the costs of damages. Here is the image of the damage to my motorhome's rear panel.

Lol. This is wildly hilarious. All I can say is good luck. Having worked in insurance, be prepared to be laughed out the door. Here is the image of the damage to my motorhome's rear panel.
