On a recent trip from Heidleberg to Heilbronn Germany, shortly after arriving the Traxx electric locomotive pictured below pulled into the station and was briefly held at a signal. No passengers alighted or boarded during its short stop but there did seem to be some pax already onboard, can anyone enlighten me as to what this working actually was please. On our journey back to Manchester a couple of days later I’m sure I observed from the ICE we were travelling on what could have been the same rake of coaches in a yard on the approach Cologne Hbf?

TRI Train Rental, a company from Franconia, running replacement services on MEX 12 Stuttgart-Tübingen for SWEG. I'm not sure but I guess it has to do with the "Digital Knot" Stuttgart, DB and SWEG have reduced train avaliabitly because of ETCS upgrades of their fleet....

Well it was in Heilbronn, then it was surely not SWEG's MEX12 service Stuttgart - Tübingen which is run by TRI (timetable, trains marked "TRI" top of column). Instead it was probably Arverio's RE8 service Stuttgart - Würzburg (timetable, trains marked "TRI" top of column).

Just to add, the time that I took the first shot of the train arriving appears to have been 12:09 with departure approximately 2-3 minutes later; we had arrived 12 minutes earlier on the SWEG service from Heilbronn, date was 2nd September.

Train likely to have been the 1037 Wurzburg Hbf to Stuttgart Hbf R56723 which is one of the regular loco hauled turns and due Heilbronn depart at 1212.

That does seem to fit nicely with the times I mentioned so many thanks for advising!
