Stafford Model Railway Exhibition:

Does anybody know if the usual vintage bus service is connecting the railway station and the showground this year, please?

Thank you. I ended up going on the Saturday. As ever, I enjoyed it but, it wasn't as good as usual, in my humble opinion.

The price seemed to have rocketed, white the number of layouts had dropped. Maybe more smaller ones and fewer large ones.

There were loads of trade stands. The catering was pretty poor.

I'll still go again next year, but hope they take heed of the feedback. I heard a few people saying similar.

I did use the vintage bus service back to town!

I managed to squeeze a few hours in. Bus from Railway Station in the morning was a regular bus from a local company - the return in the afternoon was by vintage bus which was fantastic (apart from Diesel Fumes inside when we started moving!). I think all buses back in the day belched the odd bit of smoke into the passenger area.

The show itself - impressed with the Cider in the Bar inside the venue, didn't try the catering as I'd brought sandwiches. I was impressed with the layouts - in particular the Continental ones and also the small ones mounted in odd containers such as suitcases and one in a beer barrel I think! I was a bit disappointed the advertised Iraqi Layout seemed to have been cancelled - was advertised originally but didn't appear in the Exhibition Layout on their website. Habbaniya, Iraq by Tony Bennet. Unless it was hidden away - I did 2 full circuits including all the nooks and crannies but couldn't find it. There was also plenty of space - the one at the SECC earlier in the year seemed to get very crowded in the afternoon due to the narrow width of the walkways between stands. But Stafford there was lots of space.

I know what you mean about the bus fumes. The buses last year took me way back to my childhood and bus journeys with my Mum.

The layouts this year - the ones there were good. The Alpine one in the back room was excellent.

Yes that was my favourite too - impressive rock formations giving it that great towering height - superb detail!
