Rail 200 will celebrate the invention that changed the world and hopefully encourage some positive announcements from the Government. But, what?
More electrification? New or reopened stations? Reopened lines? ROR might have been canned and schemes cancelled this year but, the Gov stated that each scheme will be reviewed individually next year.

My guesses:-
Infill electrification, especially on freight routes.

Redoubling or quadrupling, but where?

One token reopening in the north, one in the south. Probably easy ones like Ivanhoe and Fawley, where the track is in place and some stations more or less intact.

I can see electrification to Bristol TM possibly Swansea if we are lucky especially with Euro 2028 coming

I think you are being somewhat optimistic. The direction of the Government is not really driven by sentimental factors such as the 200th anniversary of the railway.

There was an announcement the Fawley reopening wouldn't happen just 1 or 2 weeks ago. Are you assuming this was just a bluff so they could make a surprise announcement to celebrate the 200th anniversary?

They said schemes are to be reviewed next year. It isn't sentiment about Rail 200, but, a cynical use of it to make positive announcements to make them look good, the only thing politicians are concerned with.
