making it the 15th 458/4 to be used in service. 458423 has not worked since the incident at Queenstown Road with 2S43 on 21.08.24, so there are only 14 currently active.

458536 + 458530 are deputising for a pair of 455 on the 2C07 Reading diagram, so all three pairs are out today.

Can anyone confirm the status of
458502 03.09.24 - maybe awaiting transfer to Widnes?
458529 02.09.24 - maybe out of C4 miles?
458532 02.09.24 - maybe out of C4 miles?

I believe 458410 entered service on 06.09.24 and its first service was 2S45, but happy to be corrected if it was prior to this.

Multiple 458/4 failures on the 2S services today. I presume it’s to do with severe overcrowding as 458s throw a strop when they’re too heavy. there’s an event on at Gunnersbury park, the district line and overground are closed for engineering works.

Correct there is a known issue with overloaded 458s so Rugby days are not going to work out well.

Paths are now on RTT for the delivery of the next 458/4 from Widnes. Assuming it runs, I do not know whether this will be 458411 on time, or 458406 two weeks later than usual. At the moment, I cannot see any paths for an opposite working, although I presume that will be 458502?

Earlier I saw 458405 working 5X95 Wimbledon to Bournemouth today passing Woking at around 13:14PM.

I travelled on a 458/4 for the first time this morning. (458412 and 413). It was wedged because of the cancellations. Maybe started off a bit slower than usual but there had been heavy rain. I like what they’ve done with the interior. The fuzz from the windows seems to have gone. They look good in SWR livery. Still has the old announcements. I always liked the way she says “This train is for Weybridge”.

For 8405, I believe its still stored just moved to Bournemouth when I saw it today. Been told by someone it was its first outing since January.

530/536 and 519/533 are on 458/5 duties. 8503/14 are doing an 8.455 diagram to help out.

8407/17 are driver training units
