323207 working Stoke-Manchester locals today.323219 working Crewe-Manchester locals. These two have been regulars in service this last month.323208 and 323220 were regulars earlier in the year.
Was on the 11.55 from Stoke to Prestbury, very impressed with the acceleration and speed it maintained. Windows were open so I enjoyed the sound effects from passing trains. Had 228 on the way back and had time for a couple of pints of plum porter in the bod bar . Lovely drink.

Sunday 08th September 2024.
1. 5G98 1601 Four Oaks to Soho cancelled 2. 5U99 1649 Soho to Four Oaks cancelled.
Means Monday 09th September 2024
Four oaks to Redditch will be
323222 323240, most likely as they remain stabled at Four Oaks since Saturday.
However seeing as the ecs moves on the Crosscity city north didn't run today, means that
Sunday 08th September 2024 will be the first Sunday probably since 1994/1995 when 323s came into service apart from Christmas or Boxing day, or strikes.
That a 323 on the whole of the Crosscity line, or anywhere originating from Birmingham New Street ,or Soho depot either ecs, or in passenger traffic has actually ran. With no 323s out, in what was common 323 ground.
However Sunday 08t September 2024.
Four oaks 323222 323240 stabled, not used.
Soho 323215 323216 323221 repair and servicing. Not in service.

Presumably this is why the ECS moves where cancelled yesterday, with No spare units (again) currently meant that work is having to be done on Sundays on the units which have been out all week.

Correct, plus stabling space at Soho, keeping a pair at Four Oaks, plus, as well, like last weekend, a pair of 323s, which was, stabling overnight at Birmingham New Street, ie , Saturday to Sunday, but this weekend just gone, Saturday to Sunday.
A pair of 730s stabled overnight at Redditch also, due to capacity at Soho also.
Only one pair out now, The Redditch pair was involved in the incident at Chester Road so has returned to depot. Thoughts with everyone involved in the incident.
Until 1315 hours approx
Four Oaks to Redditch
323216 323221, withdrawal from service due to very sad tragic incident Chester Road.
Bromsgrove to Lichfield till 1623 hours.
2044 1539 Lichfield Trent Valley to Birmingham New Street
323222 323240.
Four oaks to Redditch after 1623,
323222 Solo, from 2R43 onwards 1615 Birmingham New Street to Redditch,
2044 1623 Birmingham New Street to Bromsgrove solo 323240.
However after 1739 hours Birmingham New Street on way back to Lichfield on 2P49 after starting from Longbridge due to late running 323240 removed from service due to failure on its wipers
So 323222 solo and still going strong to end the day on the Redditch to Four Oaks diagram from 1739 onwards. Only solo 323 out from 1739.
So after 1739 323222 solo Redditch to Four Oaks
Soho 323215 323221 323222 323240.
However it does mean that Tuesday 10th September 2024, again who knows what might any predictions can be in final few weeks or so.
That 323240 worked a Birmingham New Street to Longbridge peak service solo.
Whilst 323222 worked a few services on The Redditch to Four Oaks diagram solo.
Probably the final workings solo, but not booked. But as we know it could occur again.
Observations Wednesday 11th September 2024.
Bromsgrove to Lichfield x2 323 workings rather than 1
323216 323221. Vice 730 due to stock displacement from Tuesday 10th September 2024.
323240 323222 on usual diagram.
Redditch to Four Oaks.
730 vice 323.
Observations Thursday 12th September 2024.
Redditch to Four Oaks.
323240 323222
Is there really such a pressing need for the 323s in the West Midlands now? When will these final ones clinging on be taken off the two aforementioned diagrams? You'd think enough 730s were accepted for a full service now.

They finish at the end of the month, There still units in storage I think hence why they haven't been taken off yet, usually 2 units (a pair) get taken away when 2 730s are available to step in, which has been case throughout the whole introduction.

No, still a small shortage, bizarrely 730027, seen in service various times on Cross city line, went into store recently at Gascoigne Wood, plus Tuesday 10th September 2024, for the record in the evening, a 730 diagramm was also cancelled on Redditch to Four Oaks throughout from 2000 hours,
Because a 730 failed, and no spares to re replace it,

It's getting increasingly likely the 323s will go into October at this rate! By the looks of it there no changes again next week to the diagram situation.
Easy enough to fix, however requires depot attention, which means this Sunday the Four Oaks to Soho empties should run. For the above. Thanks for the update.

Maybe it required Cet tanking at Soho as well, to provide a working Universal Accessible Toilet, ie Toilet had no water or low on water, as well, and needed refilling, or needed a quick inspection of doors in case it needed a part,
Maybe 323240 323222, needs some work or a light exam at Soho, so couldn't be used until Bromsgrove on Monday 15th September 2024, however 323215 still remains Long term repair at Soho.
