I had to withdraw because I got an application in for Parkway which is a shame, can't have multiple. Even that still hasn't got to being with hiring manager, applied in January lol. Bristol Pakrway applicants still waiting for any progression.

Oh god, I used multiple of my roles / jobs over the past few years, think I filled in 4 boxes and combined must've been around 10,000 characters
Thought the different roles I had offered different qualities. Ah well.
I've applied for Swansea by the way and also had nothing today.

I just can't imagine writing that much in an application. Like I've said, I've got no clue how applications usually go in this process, but usually, and for most other jobs, less is more. The recruitment team don't want to be bored reading it, or maybe they are expecting it. I'm surprised they allow so many words. Anyway, we will just have to see.

Talking from a hiring manager’s experience, this isn’t necessarily a wise idea. But yeah, it’s a roll of the dice really.

The instruction was "tell us how this experience prepares your for the role" (or similar words).
So I told them. I didn't write anything that wasn't necessary and I used up most of the allowed characters.

This is your opportunity to convince them you are a suitable candidate. I wouldn't miss that opportunity worrying if the person reading it is bored. (if its boring then you probably aren't including the right stuff...)

It goes against all my teachings to write a lot on a 'CV'. Though, if that's what is expected for this application I will add more in my next attempt (if it's needed).

First time applying and I applied without researching the process so it's a learning experience as well.

Yes I'd agree - on a CV you want it short and sweet. My view is that on an application if they allow a certain number of words or characters then you should use as much as you need to answer the question as fully as you can. But that's just what I do and hasnt let me down.

Hi, yes I have applied for Penzance. Had invite for first assessment, then invite for 2nd assessment (error checking) and nothing since. From what I have been reading though it’s just a waiting game!

Not yet. There's a course starting at the end of the year but I believe it's full. It's really a case of sit and wait.

Good luck Penzance guys. I wish I was still in the running for it. I knew I shouldn't have rushed into the error checking test. So worried about the post being taken down I ended up doing it really late at night and for sure wasn't 100% focused with being so tired. Got my fingers crossed for you guys!!

Unfortunately I was unsuccessful for Worcester last week but feel that I did well on both tests. After reading this thread it seems like I am in a similar boat to a few others who applied but live on the edge of the 60 minute rule, this may have been what did me in. As luck would have it Bristol has now come up which I am well within 60 minutes for and I just wanted to check here about the 6 months re-apply rule. The rule is for a particular role and not just location, is that correct? Meaning that I cannot apply again for another trainee train driver position at any depot in the next 6 months?

That's how I read it. I don't know how serious it is and at what point they decide you've applied (ie the tests or interview?), I'd assume it is just a measure to reduce number of applicants. I'd doubt they would offer you the job and then withdraw it as you applied to something else 4 months prior, but I know nothing.

I tried applying for two depots at the same time as they were both within 60 minutes. It automatically stopped me from applying to the second.
