Exactly the same! Saw it on Friday afternoon out with family. Completed it Friday night and Saturday daytime then smashed the tests out straight away in case it closed. Still glad I got it in early so I could "relax." o_O I don't think I would have performed any better on the tests if i left them, although I was pretty knackered after writing so much. My eyes were on stalks!!

That was the smart thing to do. Thankfully, I had already written most of the job history for the ‘expression of interest’ application they advertised in June. How much of the 5000 character limit did you use for each job? I was a little worried about waffling on and annoying the poor person who had to review it.

Yeah did a Google maps for Monday arriving at 8.30 am and it said 55mins to 1hr 8 do you think that would be ok? I also should be living a lot nearer in the near future do you think I should have mentioned this? Thanks
They won’t care where you intend on living they’ll drop your application like a hot potato for being out of that 60 minute radius. Hopefully when someone checks the distance it’s the 55 minute radius for you.

Ha ha , wrote War and Peace mate 8-) 4980something for one half of my career, and about 4000ish for the second shorter half (2 industries I have worked in both have nicely transferrable competencies.) We can only hope it actually gets read!

How much did you use?

About 4000 on my previous long-term job. About 2500 on the last couple of months of being self-employed. I snuck some stuff into the latter about how I’ve been preparing for a job in the railway industry and specifically GWR.

Afternoon all,

I've just applied for Swansea this morning.

I've also just finished the two online tests, I didn't expect to pass any of them to be honest! So watch this space...

I don't think anyone has had anything after the 2nd assessment. (I think somebody confused the email inviting them to the 2nd assessment for an invitation to a third)

Make sure you put Worcester Shrub Hill in, the initial advert had Worcestershire Parkway as the location which was incorrect.

I’m also very confused after that thread message that he got third assessment invite because I didn’t hear back anything and I know that may be they will tell after the job deadline pass.

What I think happened is they completed the two assessments, then had an email come through which something about being invited to the next stage of the process. They didn't read it properly before posting on here and then realised that it was in fact the invitation to the 2nd assessment. I believe it was a genuine mistake rather than trying to mislead anyone. The "frequently asked questions" on the application page states that you'll be asked to do an online assessment, and if you pass that you'll be asked to do a second online assessment.
So I am 99.9% sure if you have completed the two online assessments you application is as complete as it can be, and theres nothing to worry about for at least a few weeks while we wait to hear how we did.

hope that helps

Well, I've had a response and unfortunately been unsuccessful this time. Gutted is an understatement. Will try again in a few years when they do the next recruitment drive. I wish all the luck to everyone else who applied!!

Presumably it didn't tell you whether it was the online test or the application form?

Yes, sorry, it was the online tests. Unfortunately no feedback as to where I went wrong. Quite a hard one to take to be honest. I've wanted this for years and with my location in the far west of the country, this opportunity is incredibly rare.

We'll at least you know it's the tests, and it's relatively soon after, rather than waiting months for a generic unsuccessful email. I'm clutching at straws for the positives for you here :s. Gutted for you mate.
Living west certainly makes opportunities a bit scarce!

No I see the positive in knowing early too. Grateful for that for sure! I'll be hanging around this thread to see how yourself and others get on. Would be great to see someone here go all the way!

indeed, i'm down truro Redruth a lot if you want to have chat in person its fine by me maybe we could share studies experiences etc
Did you apply for Penzance/Plymouth too then? They had a shunter role up at Penzance recently which I just missed unfortunately. I'm up for a chat some time for sure, that'd be great.

Good morning.
Does anyone know where the theory/classroom learning takes place?
I have applied twice to be a driver and failed the medical on both occasions having passed the difficult stuff (Northern and TfW). Third time lucky I hope.
