@Buzby, have you actually used the Littlepay solution that is being discussed? You appear to be extrapolating your experiences elsewhere. There is no need to register on the Littlepay platform.

Can we bring the thread back on topic to help the original poster?

@miklcct, what happens when you try your international card? Is there an error message?

It depends on the operator. Some do (e.g. Arriva - if the button below the expiry date / CVV fields says Next), some don't (e.g. Whippet Coaches - if aforementioned button says Submit).

Ah interesting. I've not used Arriva, so hadn't seen that before.

And just to reinforce the point that has been made numerous times in the thread, the Littlepay portal for Arriva includes the following text (my emphasis):

Littlepay.com, its subsidiaries and service providers, will use your personal information for the purposes of providing you with fare and payment history associated with your contactless payment card and to respond to any targeted specific inquiries you may have regarding the use of your contactless payment card to pay for transit.
Unregistered users are required to enter the following information: contactless payment card number (PAN), expiry date, card security code (CVV) and billing address whenever requesting to access fare and payment history.

Does the form allow you to select country of billing address?

Is it a Hong Kong card and what country is the address?

If it's a UK address on a Hong Kong card, there are issues with how some Hong Kong banks input UK addresses which could cause verification to fail.

If it's a HK address on a HK card, UK websites can also encounter problems because many only confirm the house number and numbers in the postcode, and HK does not have postcodes while often having up to 3 numbers (floor, block, lot). Although sometimes any address will pass verification on UK websites

It's a HK card with a HK address.

As Hong Kong doesn't use postcode I type in 999077 if I'm forced to enter one (999077 is the internal-use postcode in mainland China which is used to route mail to Hong Kong. A similar code exists for every country or region in the world.)

Well, if the postcode is the problem you could try 00000 or 11111 instead, otherwise I have no idea.

In December/January I may have the opportunity to use a Hong Kong card on an Arriva bus, if so I will report back.

Looks like the Go-Ahead apps developed by Passenger are beginning to integrate contactless history lookup, rather than people having to navigate separately to Littlepay - see the latest release of the Carousel app on iOS.
