.I don't think most LHCS Mark 1 coaches had them, Mark 2 and 3s didn't. I heard this was a safety feature to stop children opening the door while the train was in the motion. However the southern diesel units in preservation I've been on have interior handles that are this small tab you push sideways. Some of the SR/LBSC coaches the Bluebell have the same basic design too. What was the official policy on interior handles?
