Trent Valley services pre London Midland

Is there any information anywhere regarding local stopping services on the Trent Valley before the London Midland hourly service was established in the late 2000s?

I recall, in the early 2000's, a single 153 would call at Tamworth low level a couple of times a day but I don't know what it's origin or destination was.

Something at the back of my mind is telling me it was Stafford - Nuneaton.
