Discounts to attractions with train tickets.

Southport Pleasureland is a great day out for young and old. But it does not come cheap. A Full Experience ticket is £24.99. However if you present a Merseyrail ticket or pass it is only £19.99. Having booked for tomorrow with the discount I have bought (via the Forum's web site), using validly held Railcards (1 Senior, 1 Family & Friends), 2 Adult and 1 child anytime singles from Birkdale to Southport for £4.10. I will shortly collect them from Birkdale station. As the tickets will not be used for train travel, I suppose any railcard discounts could have been used!
In the past I have used discounted entry to attractions in the London area when presenting train tickets, but on those occasions I actually travelled into London on the train. I recall also a great deal on the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard having travelled there by train. In that case a combined travel ticket and entry voucher was bought from a railway station. Are there any other juicy discounts to be had with the aid of train tickets?

It's worth mentioning that even if there is no formal discount for rail travel scheme in place, if you are a disabled railcard holder most ticket desk sales staff at the entry to attractions will accept sight of the railcard as proof of a disability and will then usually offer concession prices, and if there's two of you that will often be concession price plus free carer...

Always worth asking before you buy.

RHS Garden Bridgewater, near Worsley, Greater Manchester, offers a 30% discount on their general admission prices, if you've got there by public transport (including rail) and can show a valid ticket to prove it.

It is, however, over a two miles' walk if you're heading to the site from the nearest railway station (= Walkden)

(RHS = Royal Horticultural Society).

The '2FOR1 Days Out Scheme' certainly provided a saving on the Arsenal Emirates Stadium Tour with my Grandson yesterday.
The only advice I would add is that certainly for this attraction (maybe many of the others I don't know), is to make sure you have your voucher printed out rather than expect just to show a screenshot on a phone.

Are there any other juicy discounts to be had with the aid of train tickets?

Chester Zoo has an offer, but it's not especially juicy.

The headline offer is "BUY ONE ZOO TICKET AND GET A SECOND HALF PRICE WHEN YOU TRAVEL WITH TRANSPORT FOR WALES" (their capitals). I'm not sure (I've used the pre-2020 offer but not this one) but the description suggests to me that it can't be used with prepaid tickets. If this is correct, then, for two adults visiting tomorrow, this would make the alternatives (all prices without donation):

2 peak online tickets: £63.62

or

1 gate ticket: £37.72
1 1/2 price gate ticket £18.86
2 Wrexham General-Chester advance tickets for the 0:12 tomorrow morning (adult with railcard) £2.70
Total: £59.28

The offer's a bit better if you need the train ticket anyway, worse if you visit on a less popular date.

Had a great day out at Southport Pleasureland yesterday. I was asked at the entrance to show the train tickets. Pity about the exorbitant parking fee due to the Southport Flower Show being right next door.

Not sure it's all sites, but English heritage do 20% off with a bus or train ticket which often works out cheaper to go one stop on the bus and and get £4 off a £20 entry
