Hi, wondering if anyone could advise. I was diagnosed with sciatica 5 years ago and received treatment which solved the issue. Would this effect my role if I am no longer on pain medication? Thanks

Hard to know exactly. You should declare it at the medical stage - especially if you are still on treatment - but if it is a historical issue you should be fine.

I know it’s a discussion illl be having with work if diagnosed. But does anyone drive and suffer with gout? Do you take any medication and is it allowed?

We have a fair few, myself included. The 2 most common treatments, Naproxen or Allopurinol are both permitted without issue

I’m not a driver but I’ve been on Allopurinol for >10 years no, no gout and no side effects since taking it. One pill a day.

I really need help with the MMI interview. Mine is coming up and I’m not too sure what to expect.

I’ve heard people say don’t lie but why would you lie??? What is it exactly that they are looking for??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've applied for conductor with Scotrail and going for a safety and concentration test in a few days. I downloaded the Bourdon group scaat test but I'm not sure how to assess my performance? When I take the test and click on the screen nothing happens. I can't get to the help files either (apparently because I have Windows 10.) Any insights would be appreciated. I'm not sure if I'm missing something? Thank you.

Applied for a shunter position and was required to complete a SCAAT and RAAT test. I have taken these tests one time two years prior. Does that mean I can no longer attempt these tests in the future. thanks.

From what I can remember, the MMI was more difficult than the DMI for myself. The MMI is more of a psychometric interview and they don't really ask about yourself personally. There were about 6 questions which we had filled out brief answers beforehand and they base the interview off of these. The reason people say not to lie is because they dig deeper into your answers and it almost feels like an interrogation, although the lady who interviewed me was pleasant. They will ask follow up questions like “why did you do that?” or “how did that make you feel?”.
I cant remember the questions fully, but you can find similar ones on here. They also gave me the option to change my original answers on the question sheet which helped with knowing exactly what was going to be asked.
If you relax and have confidence in what you are saying you will be fine.

Hi all,

Recently taken the plunge into following my passion to work on the railways

I applied for a Trainee Conductor Role (Talent Pool) a few months back and passed my online tests and interview.

I was then recently offered the role subject to the medical.

This is in September - can anyone tell me what to expect who may have some knowledge. Thanks in advance

To what standard do West Midlands Trains test with at the OPC for Train Driver Psychometrics tests?

I have already done tests for one TOC and passed at National Standard and have now been invited to do the following tests with West Midlands Trains.
Stage 1
Group Bourdon
Test of everyday Attention- Occupational
Trainability for Rules and procedures Part 1
Trainability for Rules and procedures Part 2
Driver Fault finding test

Are these tests with West Midlands Trains for Enhanced Pass?

Yes, WMT have a Enhanced Standard pass rate on all tests. I passed 4/5 of mine to ES and 1 to NS so I failed the Stage 1 with them in Feb.

Just be aware that if you take the tests again and subsequently fail to meet the national pass mark it will wipe your current passes and cost you a life

Is there any way to find out how high above the pass mark I was for national standard? Do OPC give out this information if requested?

If I only just scraped through last time, then it could be a risk to my progression with another TOC if I do the tests again.

Hi, if this is your 1st interview it'll be DMI drivers manager interview and is at your depot.
The MMI is the multi modal interview you sit after passing the computerised tests (Day 2 at Atrium Court)
