As the title says, report is ILE damage. Anyone got an idea how bad it is or lines actually affected (as opposed to isolated to assess)?
Just trying to establish best plan for a family member currently at KGX, given LNER is not always quicly released

2C55 had a ADD and it looks like OLE damage and there are a few trains trapped.

Depending where they are going, ticket acceptance is being arranged with other TOCs.

Looking at Traksy/OTT - 9J55 Peterborough - Horsham stuck outside Hitchin & 2C55 stuck just beyond Hitchin. Both have been stuck for over an hour.

Yup, long delays. LNER have advised severe damage, travel tomorrow if possible, or use alternate routes.
EMR at STP have given up on ticket checks and opened the barriers. Sensible given the congestion they get at gateline even without refugees from the ECML! Hope the MML plays ball, relative already had disruption due to the point failure at Woking. But think of the delay repay!

There's a 1Z99 currently in the Huntingdon area heading southbound on the UF.

Will this be a rescue train?

LNER can't get through a week without some significant disruption somewhere got to feel for those staff on the trains, platforms and control trying to pick up the pieces again.

Some trains been at a stand over two hours and even the diesel or bimodes services aren't able to be moved which potentially infers its a whole headspan that is damaged.

Wires on up slow are down and laid across the down fast.

1N29 has managed to move north under its diesel engine.

1Z99 is the NWR hire loco either a 47 or a 57 on route from Newark.

These trains are still at a stand - now for over 2 hours. Couldn’t 9J55 have been reversed to Arlesey?

Interestingly alot of the headcodes are all over the place on SignalMaps. For example, 5S99 is showed to be in Letchworth CSD, while its apparently meant to be the 7.48 Bounds Green - Kings Cross.

Could the power be turned off in the area? or is the damage THAT extensive?

Oh yes although took a while to get it moving. Also 1S30/1D28 are 801s which are sitting on the Down which presumably could be authorised forward via the Down Slow which 1N29 has traversed.

Not helped by someone self evacuating from 1A41 and walking towards Hitchin.

Thats a 91 deprived of power for over two hours wont be very nice inside. As the ORR report from last week revealed joe public will take things into their own hands when incidents drag on for several hours. Be interesting to know how much rapid response resources are now readily available for these sort of incidents? Im surmising they have probably had to chase out the on call teams which leaves them 60-90m delay before staff with the right competency are on site to get an isolation on and do any local switching.

At least a set of mk4's will enable use of the toilet for a while without them going out of use.

Headspans need replacing though.

It really has been chaos across the network today. Starting off with the signalling failure between St Pancras and Luton, blocking all lines, a points failure near London Bridge, causing all Thameslinks to divert via Elephant & Castle, a lineside fire near Birmingham, a trespass in the Audley End area and yesterday's fire near Ipswich. It really has been a couple of days.

Also, how extensive is the damage, does it spread all lines or just the Up Slow?

Edit: 1Z99 is now on the move from Biggleswade, will it rescue 9J55?

Indeed Thameslink have a mare of day.

Suggestion is 2C55 is the stranded train? 1Z99 is also routed over to the DF North of Hitchin.

It is very likely to be all lines. Between Hitchin and Stevenage I think it would be near impossible to damage one line without affecting the other lines too, see here:

On 10 June 2024, 43062 (with 43013 at the rear) passes Little Wymondley on 1Q07 York - Kings Cross NMT.

1S30 is traversing DF so suitable for passage of traffic albeit maybe only diesel currently

Plus a points failure near Woking, which was mentioned earlier in the thread

It’s now sat next to 9J55, which has now been stuck for 3 hours +. I’m assuming it’s doing a rescue.
If it’s sat next to it, it isnt doing a rescue.

1D28 was planned to do an evacuation of 2C55 or 9J55.
