Has anyone else's application for Bristol disappeared? I emailed GWR and they said there is no application.

Wish Pad or Reading showed up, surprised to see a few costal depots here, thought they were quite rare depots to get into? Maybe a few recent retirees?

I’ve been in the pool for 5 months (only 2 of us in it). Still my heard anything yet. I’m hoping if the pay deal is agreed the ball will start rolling.

Unfortunately Reading has only recently had an advert up for trainees!

Applied for Oxford and completed both tests. Does anybody know what the level of vacancies are like there?

I've been waiting for this trainee position for a long time! Away camping with the family this weekend but will be applying as soon as I'm home! Fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone else applying!

If possible, don’t wait! This could be taken down even this hour for all we know.

Hi all, new to the forum and looking to get into the industry, I have seen the trainee train driver job adverts and found this forum!

I am Swindon based so obviously would like a Swindon vacancy, Oxford is within the 60 minutes prescribed travel time for me, how ever this would not be a long term ideal should I be successful.

Does anyone have experience of applying for multiple depots? For the same job role? Appreciating Swindon is not currently taking my applicants, but should a vacancy come available I would apply for that.

How would this be viewed from GWR perspective? Are multiple applications, with or without failure, commonplace when trying to get into this industry?

I am well aware of the long, competitive nature of the recruitment process.

I also understand that internal transfers when experienced, can take a long time to come to fruition. So Oxford is not ideal, other than the fact it is a great opportunity.

Thank you.

Stuart.

Take what you can get mate, location is not always ideal but if you don't take a chance you'll never get the opportunity, get in, do a few years and transfer once you can. Be plenty coming in from all over the place

Whilst it isn't ideal, if you want in then I would apply for Oxford and get in that way.

Unfortunately Swindon is a depot that you can only transfer to (and that's assuming there's space available) so you are highly unlikely to see a vacancy for there. Your best bets are Oxford, Reading and both Bristol stations (obviously when vacancies arise). They are all within the magic hour.

As others will tell you, the location might not be ideal but if it's your best chance of getting in then go for it. Don't wait hoping for a chance closer to home because it might never appear.

More accurately, Swindon is a depot you can only transfer to from Reading

This is greta information. I wasn’t aware Swindon is not a depot that took trainees!
