Journeys in the Timetable that do not appear online

I was hoping to catch the 12:54 Reading to Newcastle on 10th July during my ALR. It is in the complete timetable. Timetable 51 page 40 with note C - valid 26th June until 31st July but when I tried to reserve a seat I was told it did not exist. This has completely messed up my planning for this day. Are there many others like this? It was available on the booking engines up to a couple of weeks ago but is not there now.

Yes on the 10th but it isn't there on any Sundays in the validity.

Also found another 08:21 Glasgow Queen Street - Mallaig table 227 page 1 Mon-Sat until 26th September.

Sorry, but to which EC Lincoln-Skegness service are your referring?

Yes on the 10th but it isn't there on any Sundays in the validity.

Sometimes engineering work has to be scheduled after a timetable is promulgated.

You'll still manage to get between Reading & Newcastle, just perhaps not on the route you intended.

The route planner is suggesting a trip via Cheltenham to get to Birmingham if you don't fancy going on the rail replacement coach

Looks like your train will be starting from Birmingham New Street at 1430 running through to Newcastle 1748. To catch this you could leave Reading at 1111, arr Oxford 1135. Bus Oxford - Banbury arr 1240, back on the train at 1254 and arr Birmingham at 1348. That is all according to the EC mixing deck.

The departure from Reading would be lot earlier than shown in the online timetables and no doubt changes your plan for the day.

Also found another 08:21 Glasgow Queen Street - Mallaig table 227 page 1 Mon-Sat until 26th September.

Until September 23 the 0821 runs only to Oban Monday - Friday, not Fort William / Mallaig.

Saturdays the 0821 runs to Oban / Fort William and Mallaig splitting at Crianlarich. This also runs Monday - Saturday from September 26.

The morning Fort William / Mallaig service runs at 0907 from Glasgow QS Monday - Friday, until September 23. (O821 Saturdays to Oban/Mallaig)

I got these times using Scotrail's own online timetables.

I have to admit, since the new format of the online timetable I have lost my faith in it's accuracy and tend so recheck every time on the operators own websites and timetables to be sure. Having said that the Reading train is still shown in Cross Country's own timetable as departing at 1254 so even these can change from time to time due to engineering works.

East Coast don't run a train from Lincoln to Skegness. Neither does the local operator East Midlands Trains. A change at Sleaford is required to make that journey.

I quoted the whole train journey - what I had planned was just the part from Oxford to Derby. I was intending was as follows

unfortunately now unless I leave Didcot shortly after arriving I cannot get to Matlock in time for the Peak Rail train.

There have been reports that the 09:09 Bristol TM - Weymouth & 16:55 return are not appearing on national rail enquiries when people search for service's to Weymouth

I meant Lincoln - London, the new service. Dont know why i said skegness :/
