Only 3 months after being transferred from Manchester as well. I’m glad no one got hurt.
Thankfully the driver & passengers on 37447 were unharmed & safe after this awful incident.
Unsurprisingly there are a number of diversions on services that serve that part of Harehills in the evenings for today & tomorrow from both First Leeds & Transdev on the X98 & X99.
That's not a full list of the roads being avoided, by the looks of it there's no service between the A64 and Chapeltown Road as far out as Oakwood Lane.Services affected: 4, 4F, 12, 13, 13A, 16, 16A, 42, 49, 50, 50A, 61, 61A, 91, X98 and X99
Buses are diverting from Compton Road, Foundry Approach, Harehills Lane and Roundhay Road due to incident until further notice.
Do first insure their buses. I am sure underwriters will be calculating the increased risk and adding it to premiums. But maybe they self insure. How many buses have Leeds lost due to fires recently now? Also how are these fires affecting the Leeds fleet? Have they got enough slack in the fleet to cover these missing vehicles and what plans if any are there to replace the vehicles lost due to the various fires?
These have only just been drafted in in recent months when it was decided to withdraw all the B5LH HybridsAs a visitor to Leeds recently I was shocked by how many ancient vehicles First Leeds runs - some still with visible signs of where the Manchester branding has been peeled off.
First’s standard of presentation can be really poor at times.
And all of the timetables have the weekday journeys triplicated, every single journey is shown three times.First york have uploaded their timetables commencing in September:

Are they all part of the new batch which are planned to have guide wheels fitted for the 56 service in Leeds? what are the fleet numbers allocated for that group?36638, 36639 and 36641 Leeds Electrics are on loan to York for the week. These had not yet entered service in Leeds, so are being used in York as their first service work
I believe soAre they all part of the new batch which are planned to have guide wheels fitted for the 56 service in Leeds?
York being ‘fortunate’ in not having a bus station which is the main reason most cities can’t accommodate dual door buses these days.Used the York P and R yesterday. Lovely electric deckers with dual doors - in busy cities we need more of this rather than the UK’s bizarre reluctance to embrace the middle exit model
There are plenty of bus stations in London ... you need a different design of bus station to accommodate dual-door buses but it is perfectly possible.York being ‘fortunate’ in not having a bus station which is the main reason most cities can’t accommodate dual door buses these days.
Agreed. There are plenty of bus stations in London ... you need a different design of bus station to accommodate dual-door buses but it is perfectly possible.
There are plenty of bus stations compatible with dual door buses in London because dual door buses have been used for 60 yearsThere are plenty of bus stations in London ... you need a different design of bus station to accommodate dual-door buses but it is perfectly possible.
They were common in Leeds. Single and double deck. The bus stands were adapted for 2 door buses. But Leeds bus station was a very different layout. There are plenty of bus stations compatible with dual door buses in London because dual door buses have been used for 60 years
There are few bus stations comparatively with dual door buses elsewhere because they aren’t common.
It is possible of course - but is it really likely that the considerable rebuilding required would happen?
No reason why you can’t offload from the front door only at an incompatible bus station and just use the second door when out on the roadYork being ‘fortunate’ in not having a bus station which is the main reason most cities can’t accommodate dual door buses these days.
Unload passengers through the front door, load passengers afterwards in exactly the same way as a single door bus? Unless I'm misunderstanding the question? How do you work a 2 door bus in a DIRO bus stand?
DIRO = Drive in reverse out.
They work in Edinburgh fine.Dual doors don't work outside London as there's a lot of bus stops which aren't designed for them. GoNorthEast had them on the 21 and they were just confusing since half the stops you couldn't use the middle door. Not to mention the disability issues.

Didn't we have them in leeds a while back. They only used stand 1 in the bus station to unload and then loaded as normal at usual stand. Think they then started unloading on new york street as metro banned them from bus stationUnload passengers through the front door, load passengers afterwards in exactly the same way as a single door bus?
