"The police dealing with an incident at Hull means that all lines are blocked. Hull station is closed to protect customers safety due to an unsafe environment in Hull City Centre and the surrounding areas near the station. Trains are unable to call at this station for customers to disembark. Trains will terminate and start at alternate stations where possible."

Have there been any other locations so far where rail operations have been impacted?

I've been waiting for a thread on the incident in Hull because I've got a question about the incident. How come certain trains are arriving/departing but others aren't?

Trains that’s are scheduled to run through Hull eg, Bridlington to York, will terminate prior to Hull, run ecs in/out hull station then restart at next station.

Any service that was in Hull loaded was allowed to depart.

Several cars burnt in the near vicinity of the station.

2R23 (16:45 York - Bridlington) is currently stuck in the Ferriby area and hasn't moved in around 1 hour and 45 minutes. 2C71 (17:05 Doncaster - Hull) is currently at Gilberdyke, around 2 hours late. 1K27 (17:25 Leeds - Hull) was last reported at Hambleton Junction and 2K26 (17:17 Halifax - Hull) is stopped at Leeds, currently around 110 mins late.

This has now changed, ECS movements are not allowed either (as of 1828)

Some services can divert and avoid Hull where route knowledge applies but this won’t be many

The Government needs to clamp down on these riots soon. Big sticks need to be wielded.

SignalMaps and RTT aren't working together right now

First of all, SignalMaps is showing 2K24 as running between Brough & Hull, currently 130 mins late. But on RealTimeTrains it's displaying the train as cancelled from Brough onwards.

The Hull closure appears to be total. There seems to be a very limited shuttle running up past us (Bempton). Heard a Northbound service about 30 mins ago, not sure if it started from Beverley or Brid.

I would imagine there will be a lot of people stranded as Northern seem to saying that you will not be able to complete your journey.

How many drivers will have route knowledge of the Hull avoiding line near the stadium? So far no Scarborough-Sheffield services appear to have taken that route.

The Royal Station Hotel was the centre of demonstrations earlier, and the police were trying to stop the protesters from reaching it.

There’s a do not travel warning out staying until the end of the day and road transport isn’t available, Northern TPE and Hull trains all affected.

All lines have reopened at 2040 and very limited service will operate but trains and crew are displaced so service isn’t recoverable to a great degree

But surely there's an avoiding line which allows services between the west and the north not to need to go into Hull and out again?

Trouble is, only a handful of Hull Drivers sign it, and no Guards do, also, only Hull Crews sign the coast route, which is why during the recent track renewals, we suggested to Northern to still run the through trains via the curve, it was put into the 'too difficult' pile, and they ran buses between Selby/Goole and Beverley

But if it was planned in over time how long would it take to add it to 'knowledge' so that it could be used, it must be less than half a mile.

Trouble is that every member of traincrew would have to refresh it every six months. Simply isn’t cost effective to bother.

Merely stating what was happening, or was due to happen in a fast and constantly changing situation.

I was relieved to wake up and not read of riot damage to any of the new tramway infrastructure in Blackpool this morning - or worse to the heritage depot not far from the seafront. All thankfully seemed to have passed off with just a few low level arrests.
