Are there any other services in the UK like the Sellafield DRS i.e. services purely run for employees of a major business

I seem to remember there being a regular MoD train from Basingstoke to Tidworth pre-covid but my memory is very hazy. I can't think of any others?

What does that mean? DRS run special passenger services for Sellafield workers? Which services are these?

There are probably Northern services timed to arrive/depart at Sellafield at shift changeovers but they are not special services just for Sellafield workers.

DRS have never ran passenger trains to Sellafield. Until 2018 DRS locos and stock were sub-leased to Northern for use on ordinarily scheduled passenger services on the Cumbrian Coast and they did transport workers to/from Sellafield but they were ordinary passenger trains, not services dedicated to Sellafield staff.

There certainly are!

As for Tidworth, MoD workings to Ludgershall (Tidworth is long gone!) would not have been for passengers.

ISTR there were workings into Rosyth Dockyard until it ceased to be RN (in the 90s)?There was the Sinfin branch at Derby - it depends how far back we go.... :)

Works halts that come to mind are British Steel Redcar, IBM in Scotland, Stanlow - closed, mothballed and not in use respectively!

Rowntree Halt in York (Foss Island Branch) used to get a peak hour service to/from York which in practice was an extension to a public service originating/terminating at York. Finished in the mid 1980s I think.

Everything that calls there is a public service.

It appears to be a public station now too-despite the signage!

Really? When do they run?
1724 SELLAFIELD to BARROW for one, available to anybody but obviously for workers at the plant.

Sounds like a contradiction - it’s either for everyone, or it’s for workers of the plant?
That's just a normal service train open to everyone. The thread is about services exclusively for workers that are not open to the public.

The OP claimed there were such trains but incorrectly.

As the post (#2) I agreed with said:

I suspect most people on here realise the type of train the OP was discussing are long gone. So what do we do ? , say no and lock the thread after 1 reply, or keep the discussion going with the nearest equivalent. The latter for me which is why i mentioned the 1724 Sellafield to Barrow , cancelled today :s.

EXCEPT

I will answer with two current examples.

LU operate trains for employees between (1) Seven Sisters and Northumberland Park depot, and (2) (far fewer) between Stonebridge Park station and Stonebridge Park depot; these may be found in the LU WTT, in the public domain, even if public travel is not allowed on them.

Yes they are "staff" trains - the OP stated "employees of major business" but staff are employees and LU is not a minor business.

works halts / stations yes, but surely, at least in recent times like this century, were not those served by ordinary public passenger services, not employee specific trains.

In the same halt category was Ampress on the Lymington line.
_

A large now long gone example was Singer Works west of Glasgow short branch off the main route; that one even got to be 25 kV. ok ok it might have been 6.25 kV - whatever it was it was OLE AC electrified and served by AM3 units.

Before AC :
_

Technically run for employees but available for the public were the Clapham Junction / Kensington Olympia peak hours only trains - these were for Post Office Savings Bank staff at Blyth House. Specific trains yes, but they were public. Obviously in more recent years the route morphed into what it is now.

Thus probably counts, there's a train from Finsbury Park to Moorgate at around half 5 that calls at each stop for staffing reasons, likely so that staff for the stations can get there before the first passenger train. A similar service runs at around half past Midnight in the opposite direction, presumably for the sane reason.
