Possible disruption on Great Northern during the summer ?

The Rest Day Work agreement at Great Northern hasn't been renewed. So no ASLEF-member drivers will be doing Rest Day Work.

They already have a lot of services cancelled due to crew shortage, and they also have summer leave to cover, so this is going to make things a whole lot worse. (They ran a very amended timetable when the RDW ban was applied during industrial dispute)

Especially on the inner services, where there are drivers out training for ETC S.

Meetings are taking place with ASLEF from next week so don’t be let it knee jerk things just yet.

Pretty much everything seems to have run today, which feels like a rare occurrence in itself for a sunny summer weekend. There were a handful of cancellations yesterday, but probably fewer than on an average Saturday...

I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow (and whether I get to work and back on time)...

I was told (via a source who works at GN) that they now have a temporary RDW agreement until end of August covering both TL and GN.

Ah, good, thanks. There's the odd cancellation this morning 'due to shortage of drivers' but nothing like what would probably be expected if this wasn't the case.
