Following on from the long-term success of the 'Guess the Station' quiz, we are aware that there has previously been interest in extending the scope of the game beyond the borders of the United Kingdom. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce the launch of an international edition of Guess the Station. Broadly speaking, the rules will follow those of the established Guess The Station, with a couple of amendments to keep game-play accessible to a wide audience as not everyone will be as well-travelled outside of the UK:
  • Photos should include a sufficiently wide view that there are enough clues for people to guess. That means no obscurely cropped images of just a railway canopy or the bin at the end of the platform. You are of course welcome to mask out any signs with the station's name.
  • The country at least should be possible to guess from the context of the photo.
  • Locations should be relatively 'major' stations. This is clearly open to interpretation as small stations in Ireland are more likely to be recognisable, however even a major city station at the eastern end of the Trans-Siberian railway is unlikely to be known to many. We advise you to use your judgement but if an entry seems unsuitable you are welcome to report it to the QM team or state so in-thread.
As a reminder, here are the main rules of the original Guess the Station thread
  • You may only post a picture of a station if you guess the station before correctly or if somebody passes their turn on.
  • The photo must have been taken outside of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland).
  • The actual name of the station must not be in the photo or filename - destination blinds may be covered.
As ever standard copyright rules apply so please attribute photos where appropriate. If any posts or entries are questionable or otherwise causing issue please report the post using the Report function.

Additionally, please try to return to the thread at least once every 48 hours if you have posted a photo to help keep the game moving. If you guess correctly then the floor is yours to post a picture - although if you don't so this within about 48 hours then an open floor might be declared.

That'll be the LIRR low-level part of Grand Central terminal.

Now, I've never been to Bulgaria but I've seen plenty of photos of Ruse station...

...and that looks remarkably like the architecture there!

Ruse.
