I couldn't believe this either. And no, it's not a prank.

According to 5 Live Breakfast, the Kennel Club have set up a dating website.

For dogs.

I have a dog of my own but I'm not sending him anywhere near it!

Thoughts?

It's not really a dating website as we know it. It's actually a very important tool for breeders, in particular to ensure that breeding pedigree dogs produces healthy puppies. A rather sensible idea IMHO.

If it's anything like a few of the human dating websites he's going to have a fun time, if you know what I mean. Seriously, he can expect a success rate of around 50%, which isn't too shabby to be honest. There are some pretty desperate dogs out there.

Now you mention it, I seem to recall someone telling me not so long since that there are other "books" out there, for various different types of pet

Interesting. I predict that in a few years time, dogs will have seized power of our social networks!

Yes, I'd completely support this. My last Labrador came from what was supposedly a reputable breeder, but given the amount of problems he had, it certainly raised questions. Anything which improves the gene pool of pedigree dogs is a big advantage.

On the idea of 'doggy dating' though - I don't think they need much help. Once was taking my dog for a walk, and he started getting 'over friendly' with a greyhound. It was at this point I realised the gentlemen walking the greyhound was the local vicar...

The 'Vicar' part makes it about sixty times worse!
