Finishing at midnight tonight, the Eurail (dot) com site has 20 per cent off Eurail and Interrail Global passes (for travel from 1 September 2024 onwards).

I prefer a paper pass, but many will like the mobile ones.

Excellent value, and with a paper pass one doesn't need to commit to a starting date (although it must be within 11 months of the pass issuing date).

With a mobile pass you don't commit to a start date.
With a paper Eurail pass you can commit but you don't have to.
With a paper Interrail pass you have to commit to a start date.

I am trying to purchase an 'on sale: 20 per cent discounted' paper Global Eurailpass with the starting date omitted, as I have twice in recent years.

However it won't let me progress to the 'payment' page until I specify a starting date (which is not what I want to do).

Is there a solution?

Indeed, the order form, of the promotional pass forces you to choose a start date, whereas the order form for the normal pass gives you option not to choose a start date yet. The conditions for this promotion however don't stipulate that you have to choose a start date when ordering, so they're obliged to offer an open start date as specified in the standard t&c.
I'd suggest to contact customer support ASAP, either through the form or the chat on the Eurail website, to ask them how they will make that possible.
If they don't reply soon enough, you could buy a regular pass and claim a refund of 20%.

Slightly off-topic but are discounts ever offered on Switzerland one-country interrail passes?

For those who use it, there's 6% cashback on Quidco too.
Would it be correct that passes bought via www.myinterrail.co.uk can't have the "plus" refund protection added on? This option gives a refund at 100%, rather than the 85% in the standard conditions. It note they have loss or theft insurance but this doesn't seem very relevant to those who choose a mobile pass. It appears it covers the physical pass itself only.

The plus option is available at www.interrail.eu but this it would appear doesn't qualify for any cashback offers.
