Hi all,

I apologise if this is a daft question but if you have more than one passenger travelling using paperless/app tickets on the same mobile phone, how do you get additonal passengers through gatelines?

Is it simply a matter of scanning your ticket through the gateline and then passing them the phone back over the gateline to scan themselves through, if this makes sense?

Would it be the same Aztec code/ticket, or would I need to change to a different Aztec code/ticket for each additional passenger?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards.

Scan the tickets for others first and let them through, then go through yourself.

It would be a different barcode for each passenger.

Scan everybody else first, then go through yourself. 1 barcode per passenger, ordinarily.
Snap!!

If I'm the device owner and have multiple tickets for several travellers, I usually scan each person through holding the device myself by standing at the side of the gate with the scanner, and scan each person through in turn. I then go through myself last.

You get a different code for each traveller, and I always flick through each code in turn for each person; I've never tried just scanning the same AZTEC code for each person.

Double snap! ;)

This question has been asked several times. Maybe something to add to the Fares & Ticketing guide.

It doesn’t work, as I found recently when I gormlessly tried to scan myself through the gate using a ticket I’d just scanned my daughter through.
Yeah, the barcodes are not in any way connected as a group (in the barcode itself, obviously they are in the retailers backoffice system), so as far as it's aware you're trying to use a single passenger ticket twice

I did wonder if such a mechanism was built in, but was never sure how 'clever' the system was.
