With the other thread talking about unexpected RRBs and bicycles, how do we think it should be handled?
If coaches are used a bike can often be put underneath, but obviously the vehicle is often a bus where carrying a bike safely/legally isn't possible, and a suitable taxi may not be available.
To me the obvious answer is that the railway should provide a free-of-charge Anytime Day Return ticket to collect the bike if it has to be locked up at the origin or part way? Because this is an extra journey, it's not like it would incur any actual cost to do so bar about 5p's worth of staff time and orange card. Ideally provision should be made to carry it, but if it can't be this seems a reasonable solution to me.
