Emery has only beaten him once in European football which isn't exactly schooled when he's lost twice to Klopp.

Simeone and him have both lost and won twice respectively, again not schooled.

Gasparini again also won twice and lost twice against Klopp, not exactly a schooling either, especially by aggregate.

Zidane he lost twice and drew once and that 2018 was still abit into him building his team and not exactly a schooling either.

Only person on that list that you could class as schooling him was Carlo.

Even though only a film, how Mike Bassett got the managers position was because all those preferred managers either didn’t want it or couldn’t do it e.g. in prison. He was way down the pecking order.

So using this as an example, who would want the England job? It may be a prestigious position in football management terms, but as others have found it’s also a poisoned chalice.

Any top successful manager would probably wish to remain where they are, so that leaves those who have failed and are on their way down, or those who have yet to prove themselves and are hopefully on the way up.

That option in your last sentence, offering either failed or as-yet-unproven candidates will do absolutely nothing to enhance the England national side. I do agree that the post is a poisoned chalice and one that the media can use as their own publication whipping-boy. What is needed to have prospective managers refuse the position, citing the media's past reputation as the reason.

My grand-daughter aged 10 and my son visited me and she wanted to watch the Women's match between England and Sweden. Mary Earps was not in goal for England and her replacement was the worst woman goalkeeper that I have ever seen. The match ended goal-less.

She's definately not an upgrade on Earps, and I think Mary Queen Of Stops will be back between the sticks before long.
With that said, Hampton came on as a sub when Earps got injured in the France game. Her last-minute save was quality, and ultimately worth 2 points as England held on to win 2-1.
She looked less than convincing against Sweden last night - lets hope it was just a bad day in the office. With that said, I think it's good for your back-up 'keeper to get game time against decent opposition.
