Cheapest way Worthing-Exeter

Out on 27th July, return 28th July, with 26-30 railcard.

Any other tips and tricks, other than whats offered on the split ticketing websites?

If you are o.k. with travelling via Southampton Central and then Honiton, then a walk-up through Super Off Peak Return, route "Honiton/Southampton", should be available from Worthing to/from Exeter, for £47.45 with 26-30 railcard discount, and you're not restricted to booked trains only, as you would be with 2 x advances.

Select "open return" and for some reason it says no fares available.
The LNER site is for some reason quoting £55 not £47...

I suspect that the electronic restrictions are preventing the Super Off Peak Return fare from being shown for the journeys.

This is when the old Webtis mixing desk style websites came in handy at being able to select slower but cheaper routes.

Although even that is only offering advance fares
