Why do many Cross-City trains skip Duddeston?

At the moment, it’s only 2tph Lichfield skipping I think. For me the key is that Duddeston gets the 2tph Walsall as well, and it’s not the junction station (as Aston is) - 4tph into Birmingham (which is what matters) is no bad thing, and that matches the current frequency of most cross-city stations

Having done the walk from the station to old and new Saltleys, there isnt a lot there....

I worked at that train station and at perry Bar many years ago.
Duddeston back in the 1990s was pretty quiet

Saltley wasnt, wrong line. Freight crew changes still take place at Landor St junction. Duddeston did have a depot many moons ago.
Yes but I know saltley guards used to get off at duddeston and walk back to the depot.
