Jet2 Wide Bodied Planes

We are planning a flight to Mallorca in October and would normally use Leeds Bradford.
However, I have noticed that Jet2 are using a wide bodied flight from Manchester on the same day which then offers the opportunity to have a row of just 2 seats rather than 3.
However, I do wonder how likely it would be for them to swap at the last minute to a smaller plane - thereby negating any advantage of going from Manchester. I know nobody on here can know with any certainty but it has made be think of the best option.

You'll probably be fine going from Manchester. I've never had Jet2 swap out a 330 on me before.

As long as it is a T2 flight then it’s actually a very pleasant experience.

Very unlikely as it's a wet lease so they would need to find extra crew.

If it's a fully booked flight then it would be very painful for Jet2 to accommodate the displaced passengers

I don't know how much is booked at the moment as, obviously, not everybody will have paid for seating.

I am curious to know if Jet2 has self service check in machines (as they do at LB) or you need to join a potentially long queue to get to a desk.

Self-service machines, and very efficient they are too. Jet2 really are streets ahead of everyone else when it comes to the airport experience.

The new T2 at Manchester is nice as well, it's just a shame that the catering options are all towards the premium end of the market.

Not necessarily, I flew one of the A330s out to Lanzarote last October and it was practically empty. Annoyingly so as I'd paid to select a pair of the twin seats, but on balance I'd rather have paid and had an empty flight. I obviously don't know if the return was rammed or not, though.

I think Jet2 simply wet lease the A330 for the season and put it on the same flights throughout the season.

The A330 is really nice and definitely a step up on the B737 out of Leeds.

So I can tell my wife we are 100% guaranteed by UKRailforums to have an excellent experience if using T2 with Jet2.

However if Leeds is more convenient I wouldn't go to Manchester just for a twin seat on a high density seating aircraft which takes much longer to load and unload for a short flight to the Med.

If you have luggage and are close to LBA the twilight luggage drop off system is well worth taking advantage off. Family used it last night prior to a flight this morning. It gave them an extra hour in bed this morning, which at 4am was very welcome.

Also be aware that during the summer many Jet2 flights from Manchester use T1. I flew with them to Faro in May and that was T1 both ways!

Ryanair are sometimes known to do this when a flight is allocated a MAX and is then swapped for an 800, the back two rows are missing then and I'd imagine those who picked those rows are re-seated elsewhere on the plane.

As for Jet2 though, will probably be all fine!

In that case I'd go from Manchester, put the £200 into a hotel room at the airport, and use the twilight check-in at T2 the night before.

I'd still go with whatever is cheapest. T1 at Manchester is alright, much better than it was a year or two ago, it's really just T3 that is an absolute zoo.

If you're really up for an adventure then Jet2 also fly from Liverpool now. That is a very long taxi ride but, so far, Liverpool fares seem to be cheaper than both Manchester and LBA.

Happened to me recently, where I somehow ended up with an exit row due to the equipment change. The cabin crew asked very nicely if I'd swap seats with a very tall family sat behind me, as they'd paid for the exit row and ended up getting stuck there, so I agreed.

Usually Ryanair only do it if they know that everyone can be accommodated, though.

This absolutely. However, each to his own but I would totally go to Leeds if more convenient. A transatlantic flight however, would possibly change my mind.
