Interesting appointment announced this morning. Lord Peter Hendy (now former?!) Network Rail chairman appointed as Minister of State at DfT. I expect he will will get the Rail brief.

Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill CBE was appointed Minister of State at the Department for Transport on 8 July 2024.

There's probably no one better to set up GBR.
Although it also probably means he won't be running it.
The last rail minister also had responsibility for HS2.
His take on industrial relations will be interesting, as he is very much a moderniser.

Yes, this is a really excellent appointment. Shows that the government means business with the railways.

One thing I would love to see, as soon as the advertising contracts end, is the huge screen at Euston returned to showing the train times. Absolutely awful what they have done to Euston, and I'm sure the vast majority of pax would agree with this!
