I'm wondering if there'll be a Tory seat in Devon & Cornwall at all by the end of this ( I think Tavistock is looking like it'll hold, but that seems about it at the moment ). Bridgwater kinda spoiled Somerset already.

Can anyone recommend a good removals company that will do Westminster to Yorkshire?

I do wonder if Louise Haigh will help or worsen the railways if she becomes transport secretary now that Labour has won?

Labour on record also to smash 1997 record. Still a ton of seats to declare.

Conservatives have held South-West Devon.

Greens have gained a 2rd seat - Waveney Valley, to add to Bristol Central. I'm surprised by that - didn't think Suffolk/Norfolk was Green territory. Their existing Brighton Pavilion seat is yet to declare so they may end up with 3 seats.

4, they gained Bristol Central, which was widely predicted.

Liam Fox has lost his seat, could influence the Portishead line reopening (in a more favourable way towards it I suspect).

Well Philip Davies in Shipley won his £8K bet on him losing, I wonder what odds he got? :?:

What I am finding interesting is that in my region at least turnout figures are way down on 2019. It'll be interesting to see what the national figure is, because it could well be that the 2nd most popular is "None of the above".

This was their 3rd seat - North Herefordshire was announced about 5am.

With Brighton Pavilion that now makes it 4 seats.

Second lowest turnout ever reported. Shows that probably the most damaging thing for the Tories was their voters simply staying at home.

Still overall good news to wake up to, although reform got more votes than I would have liked.

Count Binface has received his best result ever:
Count Binface - Count Binface Party: 308

Also, Gullis is out!
Labour have won back Stoke-on-Trent North. Tory Jonathan Gullis was defending a 5,986 majority secured at the 2019 general election following his defeat of Labour's Ruth Smeeth.

But the majority has now been wiped out.

Stoke City Council member David Williams is the new Labour MP after polling 14,979 votes. He pushed Mr Gullis - who polled 9,497 votes - into second place. Reform UK candidate Karl Beresford came a close third with 8,824 votes.

The Stoke-on-Trent North result:

I don't think many will miss him!

The BBC's live feed is now reporting that turnout is predicted to be around 60%, the lowest since 1885 and almost as bad as 2001! o_O "None of the above" are set to become the biggest single political group!!

The BBC is predicting that the turnout will be 60% across the UK as a whole.

This will be the second lowest turnout in a UK election since 1885. Only the 59% in 2001 was lower.

And it doesn't surprise me one bit, politics has long since disengaged with the ordinary folk of our Isles.

French friends are telling me it's the same problem there, both the apathy and the disengagement. My MP won my vote by actually being around & at least seeming like he's trying.

I'm waiting for all the Reform voters in a few months to realise that their new MP's will do absolutely nothing for them or their local area and will just blame the Labour Government for their reason as to why they've done nothing, they'll probably believe them unfortunately.

It was the same for me, but even though she won the seat from the Tories the turnout in my area was down almost 8%.

I’m not surprised either. For the first time ever this election campaign has really not inspired me, there have been no interesting policies or discussions from any of the parties. And that comes from someone who as a student used to deliver leaflets and campaign for a party…

It's a new constituency but he was my MP from the old one. Turnout was a bit down % wise buf it looks like he'd have squeaked in anyway if the Faragists had voted tory.

Tories took Exmouth & East Exeter, if even 200 ppl had voted tactically there it would have been rather different. Cowley will be fuming :p They don't have a single seat in Cornwall.

In South Dorset Drax is out and it's a Labour gain, West Dorset is a Lib Dem gain from the Tories, North Dorset has stayed Conservative, Bournemouth East and West are both Labour gains from the Tories and Mid Dorset and North Poole are Lib Dem gains from Conservatives. Poole has yet to declare.
North Dorset aside an excellent result!

I don't think the term "Portillo moment" will be in widespread use any more...

Perhaps 'Portillo moment' can be for when the losing MP acts with grace and dignity throughout the announcement, immediately congratulating his/her opponent and making a gracious speech in accordance with how things are normally done.

'Liz Truss' moment will be for when the losing MP delays going on stage and therefore holding up the announcement to the point of being slow-handclapped, then exits the stage without speaking, and generally acting like they have no respect for the process.

I think she's ill. She looked utterly bewildered, and like she was on some sort of tranquilisers

I don't know what the final seat numbers will be, but the Tories have 115 seats so far, and there are just 14 left to declare, so the Tories will not even be able to hit 130 seats.
