Very quick message. I'm at Waverley and have been for over 2 hours.

Staff being helpful and lots of them. Now heard all ScotRail services from here except North Berwick & Bathgate cancelled for the rest of the evening.

Now going to go and try and find buses back though this in itself could be difficult

Bathgate is open, but only between Edinburgh and Bathgate, and with a "reduced" half hourly service (I say reduced, but today was the first day of 15-minutely services so it probably wouldn't be too bad). However, if you want to go any further West, you're scuppered.

As I was coming along the Argyle Line at around 5pm, iinfo boards were saying 'Service Suspended.' I'm v pleased I left work when I did.

Apparently, just 5 routes in Scotland have a service running.

Buses back to where? Someone here may be able to help out... got to be easier than relying on variable staff info and mobile internet!

Glad to hear that the staff have been helpful and plentiful though; a significant improvement on the snow scenario.

I see from National rail the down Chieftain has been cancelled after Edinburgh, and tonight’s up sleeper from Inverness has also been cancelled.

In such an obvious situation due to the weather, what is the position for Scotrail regarding onward passengers, for example on national rail website there’s a note
‘All ScotRail Sleeper services (from Scotland and from London) are cancelled on Monday 23 May. Customers should make alternative travel arrangements.’

I mean some people may have check out of hotels (i.e. Fort William) or be miles from there own home, you can just imagine the shear panic of some people.

The Argyle Line passes near my home. It's very eerie not hearing any trains pass for nearly two whole days!

Not where i am in Worcestershire, they've all been running fine at normal speeds (<70mph). Only one train was delayed, and this was due to a fault.

I'd have done the same. I wouldn't take a taxi as I don't have £10.20 for every litre of fuel the cab uses and I don't want to be murdered on the way home either!

Only joking, not disrespect meant to the cab drivers!

Glad I am in the smoke rather than Glasgow today, I suspect I would be bedding down in a pub right now in the hope the line to Linlithgow reopened before closing time.

Pretty grim situation at Waverley when I turned up with crowds hoping desperately some trains would run at some point.

It was strange to see all those turbostars crammed into the platforms with their engines off at peak time.

I was lucky in that the Bathgate line takes me close enough to home that I can get a taxi without having to give up eating for the rest of the week, and all credit to the guard on the train who allowed me to travel on my season ticket for the Shotts line.

The trip itself took ages with the speed restrictions, and the train seemed to be experiencing terrible adhesion, I don't recall experiencing quite such noticeable wheel slip at every station before.

When I got to the station a fellow offered to share a cab out my what to the £10 fare become £5, so given the conditions not bad. The roads out here are chris89 says pretty bad with bits of tree everywhere, and I had to rescue my bins for the neighbours back garden, goodness knows where half the contents of the recycling bin have ended up.

Hopefully things will be back to normal tomorrow but I'm not optimistic the Shotts line always seems to be the first to be withdrawn and the last to be reinstated when this sort of thing happens.

I see that trains have now been restored out to Inverkiething, so hopefully some signs that things are staring to recover this side of the country.

I think it is a given that most electric services will be off, the OHLs seem to be very badly affected.

As to which diesel services run who knows? I guess it is all down to how willing NR are to have gangs out overnight to clear debris and get lines safe for use.

Edinburgh bus station open and busy when I arived there an hour back, most stuff running but obv nothing over the forth and large numbers using Citylink Glasgow runs. edinburgh Decker runs, esp those to the countryside getting delayed, 15a I was on was 48 down according to its driver

Yes, and the ScotRail website has switched to the low bandwidth page with all the important info on the homepage. 'Organised' isn't the right word, but it has been much better dealt with than previous incidents. A cautious 'well done' from me. (Easy to say once you've got home.)

Services between GLQ & Edinburgh Waverley are now running as booked, commencing with the 20:30 from Edinburgh & 20:30 from Queen Street.

Further signs of recovery. Winds in the eastern central belt dropped markedly, when I got home I was recording 60mph gusting to 85mph(!) out my backdoor, now down to 30mph gusting to 50mph.

I'm not optimistic about that one. The OHL have been brought down near Partick, and I'd guess that conditions are still too bad to allow repairs to start.

I would not be hoping for much to run before noon tomorrow if even then (but you never know).

Tomorrow will definitely be a day to go online and check before leaving home.
