Unfortunately it seems the ECML wire issues have struck again, with “substantial damage” reported at Finsbury Park to the overhead wires. It seems the area is blocked to diesel traction with quite a few electric trains in the area (incl. highlander sleeper) at a stand either at stations or not platformed at all. Services are being held as far away as Peterborough. It looks like it’s going to be a long one with there being no departures from Kings Cross for a while now.

Due to failure of the electricity supply between Stevenage and London Kings Cross all lines are blocked.
Impact
Train services running to and from these stations may be delayed. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Further Information
You can use your ticket on the following train operating companies at no extra cost:
Greater Anglia between London Liverpool Street, Stevenage and Peterborough. Great Northern and Thameslink between Kings Cross and Stevenage, Peterborough.
Were working with our partners at Network Rail to get trains moving again as quickly as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

There is also a separate incident on-going in the Chester-Le-Street area involving the emergency services, so unsure how far services past York will get.

Services stuck that have a GU, are moving on the Up in to Kings Cross where the route is not blocked by fallen OHL, 1E24 and 1A49 at least have moved.

There is a route available on the down Hertford line for diesel services from Kings Cross, once some stranded trains are moved.
1d36 is now going to be going that way.

They are looking at shortening the section of isolated OHL to allow stranded trains to move.

The damaged OHL is at Alexandra Palace.

Do you know if 1D36 has SSO for Stevenage?

1D36 800110 got the route out of KGX. Will be going via Hertford Loop.

1N36 has been cancelled, and was planned to be 91101 so no surprise there. More than likely it will be stabled at KGX overnight.

1N35 801206 also cancelled.

What is the plan for 1D34 2135 London Kings Cross to Leeds? Presumably too late to divert it? Don't envy the passengers stuck on there not moving for getting on for two hours now. But what will they do with it if they cannot get the line back at a reasonable time tonight?

I have a friend stuck on 1R65 approaching Finsbury Park, which has apparently been there for 2 hours. They have been told to prepare for a detrainment (not sure whether this is to walk to Finsbury Park, or to an adjacent train).

1A96 alongside is to be utilised for an evacuation of customers from 1R65.

1A69 just made it through Ally Pally, just under 3 hours late. 1Z99 is still steadily trundling along towards Arlesey, I do wonder what it will be taking..

Late to bed for 1A69s crew, which in turn has meant 1N90 the first KGX to Sunderland departure, being cancelled this morning.

Looks like the Cally Sleeper finally got on the move almost 4.5 hours late last night, and arrived at Edinburgh around 0730 today where both onward portions have been cancelled...

The Inverness portion is still moving and is now expected to arrive there at approximately 12:00, was originally due 08:45. The other highlander portions have been cancelled.

The Glasgow portion has just arrived into Edinburgh 3.5 hours late, but I suspect it will continue to Glasgow, expected around 09:25 if it does, originally due 07:30.

It does appear the Up Fast is still blocked at Ally Pally with southbound services using the Up Slow & Up Slow 2. Disruption is expected until the end of today still, with an 8 hour block required for a complete fix.

Yesterday evening, an automated system detected an electrical fault, and immediately turned off the power to the overhead wires across the area between Alexandra Palace and Finsbury Park.

Train operators have been advised that substantial damage had been found to the wires at Alexandra Palace, and trains were unable to run on this route for several hours.

Network Rail have been working to deal with this as quickly as possible, but the situation is proving to be prolonged.

Most of the railway is now able to be used, but one of the southbound lines remains closed due to the extent of the issue.

This means that the capacity for trains in the area is lower, and train operators have to reduce their services - especially at peak times, when there would be more trains due to run.

Works to repair the overhead line will be carried out tonight Monday 10 June, with an 8 hour line block needed.
Additionally, 91101 was stabled at Kings Cross overnight as expected and will be forming 1D06 08:33 to Leeds.

From the photo in post#13 above by londonmidland it appears to be the catenary wire that has broken, not the contact wire, and has occurred near an overbridge. Did somebody throw something over the bridge which caused the damage?

Is anyone able to confirm that the 11:15 1A26 LDS to KGX is okay? Currently showing as on time on station boards and RTT, wondering if I’ll need to end up doing a scenic diversion via Sheffield and the MML

Trains seem to be running through it fine this morning, with 10/15 mins of delay perhaps.
The inbound service is on time and about to arrive into Leeds.

Up fast is blocked from New Southgate. So there will be delays through the day while trains squeeze through.

Looks like the Fort William portion ran in the end? Current sat at Rannoch waiting for the single line section to come free and estimated at Fort William at 1339 (versus the scheduled 1000 arrival).

Yes, my info is only as good as what is on RTT at the time i look.
From RTT now it looks like from Edinburgh, the Inverness left at 0808, Aberdeen at 0828, and Fort William at 0904, the latter now being expected to arrive at Fort William just short of 4 hours late at 1352.
