Well, it's now passed midnight and I'm pleased to report that I'm still alive (to the best of my knowledge).

I predict that the world will end at 05:24:36 BST on the 23rd of May 2011. We've all got just 29¼ hours to live!

When was the last time such a prediction was made by a non-religious person? Ever?

Where do you want us to send the donations to?

I read about a good prank where one buys lots of clothes from charity shops and lays them on the ground in public places, as if the person had been raptured. Not only does some money go to charity, it would freak the hell out of some people! :D

Well I'm still here!

Another classic example of a crazy American with nothing else to do!

Anyone else sick of these predictions:roll:?

It annoys me that the media are giving these people publicity. It's a bit like the X-Factor and Britain's Got Talent; you're giving crazy people a platform, and using it to ultimately laugh at them. The best thing to do would just be to ignore them.

Still, if (unlikely as it would have been) yesterday had been the rapture, we'd have been the ones who'd have looked like morons!

PHEW! I'd have been really annoyed if the world ended with a Red Bull on pole.

Got the makings of a good race today with the massive difference between the two tyres.

Anyhoo, back on topic.

As we can all see, it never happened but reading around, the problems it has left behind for some will be felt for a long time. Some "believers" did idiotic things such as selling their houses or spending their kids college fund in the belief it would happen. Another guy spent something like $140,000 of his life savings on advertising hoardings to spread the word.

Problem is, even the believers who should have become non believers because JC didn't turn up are now making some marvellous excuses to still hold on to the belief, things like "its just a test of our faith".

What is more interesting is the man who started it all, Harold Camping, seems to have disappeared completely, quite apt considering the amount of money he made in the run up to the "deadline". Maybe he actually was raptured, maybe he has gone "camping" or maybe he is re-jigging his sums to come up with another date to leech money from the gullable.

You can guarantee one thing though, being America, it won't be long before the first lawsuit against him! :D

We've had some apocalyptic sounding winds around here this morning (insert your own punchline )

Seriously gave me the willies as I've already forked out for roof repairs this year.

Not if his Kers is still on the blink! Cost him in China and could be the same here..............I hope.

We shall see. Alonso is sandwiched between the two Mclaren's, so that'll be an interesting one to watch!

Maybe the world could conveniently end just before Vettel crosses the line....

Well, maybe not for all of us, I don't fancy going anywhere yet, or the more likely scenario of being left behind to scrap with the four horsemen.

Vettel being raptured as he crossed the line would be fun though, he is just about to put his arms up then whoosh, just a pile of clothes left in the cockpit and a red bull slowing down the home straight.

Maybe they could add that in if they did a remake of 2012, as in the first one, they destroyed the Bayern Munich football stadium!

Guys - read this:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13489641

I'm lost for words. Some bloke spent his entire life savings of £86,000 on this b0llox. Seriously - I hope he doesn't have kids that could have used that for an education. Mental. And the nutter at the centre of it all can't be found. Hmmmm, he's probably laughing all the way to the bank.

These people do indeed need saving - from themselves.

They [the organisers] need to be prosecuted for fraud and locked up unless they can prove beyond reasonable doubt that the rapture was coming. Shame there is no law against stupidity though

Doesn't that apply to all organised religion? It's got by for thousands of years by persuading people that a bit of worship here and money therer will land them up someone much better in future, without any proof whatsoever.

Unbelievable. £86,000!

And unsurpisingly, Mr Camping is nowhere to be seen.

Yes, I suppose it does yet unfortunately mainstream religion is too protected we even have bishops in the house of lords <(

But at least we don't have the Spanish Inquisition these days....or the Knights Templars. The Christian version of the Taleban.

On the other side of the coin, we also don't live in a theocracy like Iran.

I like the Amish...nice quiet folks who don't pollute the atmosphere with vehicle emissions.

Rapture’s Winners and Losers

I was particularly amused by the ending:

Missing

Meanwhile back in Britain there is concern that Richard Dawkins has not been seen since he popped out for a walk just before six.

A spokesman for the Christian Institute said, “God moves in mysterious ways”

I am glad that some of the practises employed by the Mayan or Incan religous leaders are not carried out today! Vast amounts of golden objects were given to their temple priests as an aid to a better life after death. With regard to your last four words, people asking for such proof would not have seen the light of day for much longer in those far-off days.
