1J94 28/5 St Pancras-Margate extra stop at Chilham

I was on the 1750 St Pancras-Margate via Canterbury West this evening and it made an extra stop at Chilham at 1835. Does anyone know why? The stop is noted on https://www.recenttraintimes.co.uk/Home/Service?ServiceId=122721682

I was in the rear half so didn't see who was on the platform, but I'm guessing it was to pick someone up. The hourly stopper had stopped there 20 minutes earlier.

Down as 'train departing late to maintain customer connections'.

Looks like the 1720 St Pancras-Margate was late and missed the connection to the stopper at Ashford - so this could explain the extra call.

Surprising that Chilham was the only extra call. You’d have expected all the stations north of Ashford to have had stop orders.

Perhaps there was low loadings for the others? Ashford staff may have requested the additional call to Control depending on who had made themselves aware they missed the connection.
