Porterbrook class 769/9s after handback from GWR

As I understand it all nineteen units were returned to Long Marston off lease.

Since then I believe two units were moved to Kilmarnock (possibly Brodies) have been delivered blue and now seem to be running trials in the Glasgow area.

Last week i believe one or maybe two 769/9s were hauled from Long Marston to Doncaster.

Who knows? The new issue of RAIL has a picture. They asked Brodie's for comment, but "none was forthcoming"

Shame the line they planned to use them on (North Downs) never got third rail electrification years ago..

At least the 769 debacle prompted a major review and rewrite of the timetable, which in its new form of 2tph to Gatwick with alternate stopping patterns, is much more useful and convenient than the old alternating Redhill stopper / Gatwick semifast pattern was.

Definitely - local Rail users had been asking for this fix for a few years.
