Heald Green to Lincoln

An elderly lady neighbour of my sister-in-law would like to visit her sister in Lincoln and would like a journey that would not require much in the way of changes. She is quite an active person who likes walking with the local ramblers, so there is no problem with accessability. She lives only two minutes walk from Heald Green station.

This journey can be done relatively straightforwardly, with just two changes required, at Manchester Piccadilly, and then at Sheffield (or Doncaster).

Thanks for that. I telephoned her and she said that she has a Senior Citizens railcard. She would like to start her journey on Monday, 23rd May and stay overnight and return to Heald Green on Tuesday, 24th May.

Off peak return with Senior railcard discount is £24.70. This may be a better option than advance tickets, which tie you in to particular trains.

I was getting prices of around 18-19 quid without a railcard. so thats about 12.50 with a railcard each way.

Off peak single is cheaper

I have telephoned her with what you have said. She says that can get a lift to Stockport and travel from there. She had a figure of £50.00 in her head for a return journey, even though she is NOT going First Class. She has been quoted a figure of £24.70 off-peak return from Stockport and she is delighted that there will only be one change en route at Sheffield, on both journeys. Her travel plan now is:-

Stockport has the same off peak fare of £24.70

However that does use TPE and EMT, so no pacers there
