Hi

Hopefully someone will know.

I am currently buying the 8 ticket flex pass, so 8 trips in 28 days, and loading this onto my GA smartcard. I am travelling into Stratford and then I use my debit card to tap in / out on the Jubilee or Dlr to get to Canary Wharf (as cant use the GA smartcard for that on a flexible ticket).

My question is around tapping in and out with the GA smartcard. Currently I am tapping in at my start station, tapping out at Stratford, then tapping debit card for tube etc. I then have to repeat all this later on the same day to get home!

I have noticed that once I tap in at my start station with my GA smartcard the app shows my ticket as being active for that day.

Does this mean that I don't actually need to tap out at Stratford or indeed tap back in at Startford for my journey home?

Whilst it might seem trivial when the station is so busy having to tap with one card and then another is a pain !

Would only tapping first thing in the morning be an issue if my GA smartcsrd is checked by staff on the train say on the way home?

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

Once the ticket is activated you only have to tap if you need to open a barrier, so you don't have to tap at Stratford.

Once the ticket is activated you only have to tap if you need to open a barrier, so you don't have to tap at Stratford.
But remember to touch out with your contactless card to complete your PAYG journey - otherwise you'll be charged a maximum fare.

Great thanks. Yes, aware on the payg part, although can often forget!!
Worth noting that you can usually correct an incomplete journey up to a few times a month by registering your card with TfL.

Be aware you can also activate your flexi ticket on your smartcard with the national rail smartcard app, very useful as it also allows you to keep track of how many journeys you have left
