Attercliffe Road (Sheffield), Aldwich, Broad Street last train (if you can call it that as it was just a single prefab platform), Holburn Viaduct, Oldham Mumps, Tunbridge Wells West, Groombridge, Uckfield (old platforms)...

1) closed stations on lines which are still open. At first I could only think of 5 of these Ditton Junction, Etruria, Radipole, Rotherham Masborough and Trent. Looking through the previous posts on this thread gave me Garston and Smethwick West as well.

2) closed stations that have now reopened. Birmingham Snow Hill, Corby, Tutbury (and Hatton)

3) closed stations that are now preserved Bury Bolton Street, Goodrington Sands, Ongar, Wirksworth

4) closed stations that are now light rail / tram. Whitefield, Heaton Park, Besses’o’th’Barn, Crumpsall, Woodlands Road, Old Trafford, Warwick Road, Sale, Oldham Mumps.

5) stations which have gone completely

A bit of research would tell you that that is the old name (as was under BR) of the 'new' Old Trafford Metrolink station. This occured when the line was converted. At the same time, the old Old Trafford station was renamed Trafford Bar.

Can finally confirm that I have indeed been to Tilbury Riverside - many times :roll:

I even went on the ferry. But having been 3/4 when it closed, I'd like to know how I'm supposed to remember that. I don't remember much from before I was 5.

Where?

I think there has been a typo error.

He meant WARWICK ROAD, which was just outside the Lancashire Cricket Club ground at Old Trafford. Very busy when the test matches (especially those against Australia) were in in the 1950's and 1960's.

My wife's uncle is still living and he has many memories of the rail journeys that he used to make and has a vast amount of tickets (which he claimed he managed to keep for his collection without handing them in if possible). :roll:

This shows just how well constructed former station buildings were. There are countless stations and station-masters houses used as private dwellings these days.
