Considerably so. I've been on one short formed 6 to 3 and it didn't feel as bad as a 350 short formed 8 to 4.

It’s got similar seats to 720s, however they are the “R” variant of the seat, with Fainsa Sophia seats (similar to those in the 197s) in the ex-First Class section.
A 4 car 350/2 can fit 117 standees officially, while a 5 car 730/2 can fit 202 standees (it’s worth mentioning that a 5 car 730 is the equivalent length of a 6 car 350).
I’d assume they’ll start to appear on the South WCML closer to entry to service, for driver training, though there are other people on this forum who know much more about that than me. At the moment, they’re generally testing on weekdays between Crewe and Nuneaton.
Until all depots have signed off the 3 car variant, none will train on the 5 car that's a given. Looking about another 16-20 weeks to get drivers at my gaff all passed out on 730/0s (~25 out of 72 done) so June/July possibly for driver conversion courses to start. I know we're behind on 730 compared to other depots, but we'll be a 5 car unit base with only some 3 car work so clearly not priority at this point.
Add another 15-18 weeks on to that before my depot would be all done (given or take any strike or ASOS action). If units are ready, and balises are all in, signage sorted, December TT change could see a launch. Wouldn't expect any earlier.

Yes, they run all the former 319 diagrams.
Thank you, for some reason I thought they were just stuck to the Trings.
The Trings/MK stoppers are interworked, albeit the peak 730 diagrams seem to involve more Tring work. The all day diagram is a 50/50 split though.

Yes the 730/0s, usually in pairs do four diagrams. Can see what they are on Part Time Spotter.
I am not sure but was it the first three (or two ?) diagrams that completely replaced the 319s with a fourth (and third ?) diagram actually replacing 350s ?.
Similar to the 805/807 thread, I've managed to make a 95% accurate seating plan for the 730/2s, the accessible/cycle area may not be fully accurate, and there may be slightly more priority seats. The total number of seats is identical to the 406 figure stated in the factsheet.
I figured it'd be of use to some people on here if you're into that sort of thing!

Does anyone know what diagram the 730 is on today (Sat 17th) for Wolverhampton-BHM-Walsall?
I’ve been hoping for one all week on my commute but no joy and was hoping to hunt one down today.
I’ve been following Part Time Spotter but it seems they don’t post on weekends.

The 09:30 from New St to Walsall is showing as a 3 car on Darwin, so I’d assume it would be the diagram including this service.
Correct and it’s formed of 730015.

The 730 I saw at Euston yesterday looked quite bright internally.
I almost wished I'd had an LNWT/TfW ticket so I could have jumped on, even if I changed onto a 350 at Watford Junction for example.

The latest issue of Modern Railways has some in-depth information about the rollout of 730s over the next year or so, and I figured I'd share some summarised notes as to what is planned to happen:
Diagrams on Walsall-Wolves won't increase until Cross City introduction in "spring," and then after that they'll start ramping up diagrams alongside the Chase Line runs.
Another all-day diagram is expected to start on WCML South in June, with 730/0s also deployed down there at weekends, releasing 350s for Birmingham and Trent Valley Services, which are particularly busy on Saturdays and Sundays. No /2s accepted, but they're likely to accept the first one in spring, with hopes to introduce them into passenger service in late 2024. /2s currently planned to be used on Birmingham-Liverpool as 5-car units, Euston-Crewe, and WCML South. On weekdays operation in pairs will be predominantly on WCML south at peak times, but at weekends more pairs of units will be used on Trent Valley services to accommodate leisure demand. 350/2s off lease at the end of 2024, but extensions to the lease are possible (and, let's be real, highly probable).
DfT looking into opening a new depot at Bescot (as per earlier plans), and a new toilet emptying facility has been built at Coventry North Yard.

Looks like a few trains at night terminate at Coventry. Wonder why they don't run to Northampton?
There are staff based at Coventry from the days when the trains didn't go through to Northampton, and there are sidings there. What would be the use in lots of dead running to Northampton?

Will the 730/2s be working as single car units on WCML South at weekends? Also will the 350s only be used on London-Birmingham and Abbey line services? Hopefully there will be no more short formed 350 services when all the 730s are in service. I know some people on here are not fans of the 350/2s but they are still good trains, and I hope they don't get scrapped, although they probably will be.
