Haslemere to Milton Keynes best ticket

I have got a job interview on Monday next week at 11:30 at Milton Keynes, I need to travel from Haslemere to Milton Keynes. I am assuming I would be best to travel via Euston? I am trying to work out the best & cheapest ticket deal do any of the fellow forum users have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Are you coming to work in MK - the City of Dreams?

If you are off peak then LM only seems to work out cheaper. When do you need to travel?

There's a slightly cheaper off peak day return via Kensington Olympia (change at Clapham Junction) but you need to be in MK too early for either it or the Euston one

An off peak return to Rugby at £53 may be one answer. I'm not sure if travelling short would be a problem

Thanks to all the members that have posted! I would be travelling in the peak as in before 09:30, & sadly I hold no railcards. The Interview is with a large infrastructure maintainer who are in the process of setting up a HQ in the town

A way to buy cheaper in the peak, and to get you into Milton Keynes for 1102 is :

0807 Haslemere-Clapham Junction 0903 (South West Trains)
0939 Clapham Junction - Milton Keynes Central 1102 (Southern), stops at Wembley Central 1008

Split at Wembley Central with a Haslemere-Wembley Central RTE Not London Anytime Day Rtn £34.40 and then : A Southern DaySave £12 Ticket, valid on Southern Trains Only and After 10am in the Morning, and not from Not between 16:45 and 19:15 Monday to Friday when boarding trains from East Croydon and London stations (Victoria, London Bridge and Clapham Junction), but you will be fine on this as your going to be using the Rtn Portion of your Haslemere Ticket, the daysave must be booked on the southern website at least 7days in advance, so depending on when you are going may help.

I am living down here now to (and working) It is no where near as bad as people make out. MK seems to get a VERY bad press

Is it not cheaper to break the journey up? What about southern - I forgot about southern even though i get their train home every night!

tempests1, won't the company pay for your travel expenses? I'd find this out before getting too creative with ticketing, as claiming for a collection of tickets which aren't obviously for your interview travel might raise some eyebrows...

Restriction is 9I, which permits break of journey in both directions so this would be a goer (though not as cheap as some other suggestions, it would allow travel on faster Virgin services). It's valid on trains from Euston at or after either 0926 or 0905 (seems to be an error in the text with two times appearing).

I agree. Find out if your expenses will be paid first. If so, I wouldn't buy anything other than a return ticket between Haslemere and Milton Keynes Central. Company secretaries don't always appreciate people being clever and remember that not everyone appreciates the fact that buying a ticket to a place further away and travelling short might save money.
