Liverpool - Preston Friday 3rd November 2023 - Cancelled services

Just looking to book a Liverpool Lime St. to Preston return trip for tomorrow afternoon (out midday / back early afternoon), but the timetable seems to have a lot of cancellations. Does anyone know whats-up?

Sunday 26th Nov. At Roby , the 1256 and 1309 to Lime Street were cancelled so no trains between 1209 and 1357. I got the bus (once an hour but reliable). On the way home the 1715 to Blackpool was cancelled and the 1730 to Wilmslow was jammed. Will it ever get better?

Sunday 18th Feb 2024, at Huyton all four trains between 1205 and 1305 were cancelled(VCN) and three out of four between 1405 and 1505.

You might want to consider going via Ormskirk instead...that's far less often cancelled (as long as a 777 doesn't give up) and it's not much slower.

Good advice for the OP. No good for me at Huyton. Fortunately I don't often need to travel on Sundays.

Yes, I did use that route during my trips up that way before Christmas.

Cheaper too, especially with my Merseytravel O60 pass.
