This settlement is more commonly known by the name of Doulting. It is associated with the poet John Edmund Reade (1800 -- 1870), who attended school at Doulting. Reade is generally reckoned to have been not without merit as a poet; but with a strong tendency toward, in much of his work, plagiarism of the output of more famous and talented poetic contemporaries. A certain similarity can be seen here, with another not-first-rank poet of a generation or two earlier -- Thomas Chatterton (born in Bristol): whose short, turbulent and tragic life ran from 1752 to his suicide in 1770. Chatterton, also, is noted for a tendency to doings which are considered "dodgy" by the ethics of his craft -- in his case: rather than plagiarism, outright falsification and forgery.Doulton in Somerset also has a church that is dedicated to St Aldhelm.
Some of my posting researches do tend to use arcane material, unfortunately...This settlement is more commonly known by the name of Doulting.
